True.
Way, way, way back in the day, cultures that went to war with each other would say that their god was stronger than the enemies, when they won.

So that would be Jesus who intercedes on man’s behalf while sitting on the right hand of God.

So that would reinforce my statement, although truth be told I was more interested in arguing that Muslims are fanatical as they think that they are acting on Allah’s behalf in the death of infidels while also acknowledging Jesus exists. They are a confused group of religious zealots

Right. Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, any other religions you can think of all have faced times of war.

False. The Quran says the Torah was full of guidance and light until it was corrupted by scribes. It does not testify to the truth of “the Bible” either the Tanakh or any particular Christian Bible.

The Quran does mention “the gospel” was inspired but it doesn’t mention any of the four modern Christian gospels. It does mention the story of Jesus turning clay birds into real flying birds in the infancy gospel of Thomas.

If the Jewish God exists, why did he let Jerusalem be destroyed by infidels?
quote:

1By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept when we remembered Zion. 2There on the willowsa we hung our harps, 3for there our captors requested a song; our tormentors demanded songs of joy: “Sing us a song of Zion.” 4How can we sing a song of the LORD in a foreign land? 5If I forget you, O Jerusalem, may my right hand cease to function. 6May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth if I do not remember you, if I do not exalt Jerusalem as my greatest joy! 7Remember, O LORD, the sons of Edom on the day Jerusalem fell: “Destroy it,” they said, “tear it down to its foundations!” 8O Daughter of Babylon, doomed to destruction, blessed is he who repays you as you have done to us. 9Blessed is he who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks.

Why?

Its been that way since Israel's re-existence. Go read about the six day war or the 3 other wars Israel had that they were vastly outnumbered and surrounded. Israel wins everytime. They have had Lebanon, Syria, Egypt and others attack them simultaneously, each with bigger forces and destroyed them all. One war the entire Egyptian army was destroyed in the desert and the soldiers had to walk back to Egypt, abandoning all their equipment. They struggled back to Egypt in their underwear.

Regardless of what happens with this war in Iran, Islam is here to stay until the end times. It will be the religion of the anti-christ. Once the Christians are raptured, Islam will be the largest religion left here on earth and will enforce their Sharia law worldwide. Their Mahdi they are waiting for will be the anti-christ and will be directly opposed to the real Jesus Christ and failure to worship their Mahdi as God to receive the mark will get you beheaded. It's coming to the USA and it's already taken root in Europe. It will not be eradicated until Jesus returns and destroys it. Believe the gospel to avoid this horrible event that is coming in our future.

And all of this goes back to the sin of Abraham with Hagar. Sin has consequences.

Both victory and defeat are tests, not proof of God’s (or allah’s) favor or absence.

Muhammad got his shite pushed in at the Battle of Uhud, so ain’t much changed over in the sand box the last fifteen hundred years

Quote it, then. I’d like to see where the Quran teaches this corruption, because I’m not aware of it. I know Muslims teach that the Bible has been corrupted as a necessary defense against the the Quranic teachings, but the Quran, itself, doesn’t teach such a corruption of the biblical texts.

quote:

It does not testify to the truth of “the Bible” either the Tanakh or any particular Christian Bible.
It specifically affirms the Tawrat (Torah) and the Injil (Gospel) are from God (Surah 3:3-4).

There are several passages that affirm the teachings given to the Christians and Jews, such as Surah 2:136, which specifically affirms the teachings of Moses and Jesus.

quote:

The Quran does mention “the gospel” was inspired but it doesn’t mention any of the four modern Christian gospels. It does mention the story of Jesus turning clay birds into real flying birds in the infancy gospel of Thomas.
It speaks to what the Christians had and read at the time the Quran was written. The Infancy Gospel of Thomas was not one of those canonical texts at the time of the writing of the Quran, and was never accepted by the Church. If Muhammad thought it was part of the Bible, it just further demonstrates how the Quran is wrong.

The argument is that the Quran gives authority to the Torah and Gospel that the Christians and Jews affirmed at the time of the writing of the Quran, and since we have evidence that the writings the Christians and Jews had at the time were essentially the same as what we have now (the Dead Sea Scrolls and extant manuscripts of the New Testament from before the time of Muhammad affirm this), then the Quran fails.

The Muslim is forced to either accept what the Bible teaches (which contradicts the Quran), or believe the Bible was corrupted at the time Muhammad wrote that it could be trusted and followed. Either way, the Quran is wrong.

Here’s one from Surah 2:79
quote:

So woe to those who distort the Scripture with their own hands then say, 'This is from Allah'—seeking a fleeting gain! So woe to them for what their hands have written, and woe to them for what they have earned.

The context is the Jewish elite and scribes altering the scripture. The Quran is consistent that the Torah was revealed to Jews but the version they have now (in the 7th century) has been edited and altered by man and not by Allah.

See also 3:78, 4:46, and 5:13.

quote:

but the Quran, itself, doesn’t teach such a corruption of the biblical texts

The Quran doesn’t “teach” just like the Bible doesn’t teach but the Quran does contain passages which state that the Torah and the Gospel are truthful and revealed by God but that neither the Jews nor the Christians have the revealed version - they have corrupted versions.

quote:

It specifically affirms the Tawrat (Torah) and the Injil (Gospel) are from God (Surah 3:3-4).

Yes, just like the Jesus-followers attempted to co-opt the John the Baptizer movement, the Muslims attempted to co-opt the Torah and Gospel so as to make it easier to convert Jews and Christians. The writers of the Quran were at least using the infancy gospel of Thomas as a source so we know their “gospel” wasn’t the same as the gospels used by Nicene Christianity.

quote:

The Infancy Gospel of Thomas was not one of those canonical texts at the time of the writing of the Quran, and was never accepted by the Church.

The Muslims didn’t give a shite what was canon in the Roman church. There were many different versions of competing christianities and Roman Christianity was just one version.

quote:

If Muhammad thought it was part of the Bible, it just further demonstrates how the Quran is wrong.

Muhammad was probably not a historical person.

Look it up. There are Muslims to went to Muslim divinity schools and are experts on their religion that became atheists and now question whether Muhammad was historical.

No, what the Quran calls the Torah and the gospel are specifically and explicitly not what Jews and Christians had at the time. You have it arse backwards.

Foo: “they said gospel so that must mean they are talking about my specific 4 gospels rather than the other 45 or so non-Roman gospels floating around Egypt, Levant, and Arabia or some other idea of a gospel. Duurrrrrr”

Prodigal Son was right. You are retarded for Jesus.

quote:

Here’s one from Surah 2:79
It's not talking about a corruption of the Christian or Jewish Scriptures. It's talking about individuals (scribes and rabbis) writing something down and claiming it's from God. It's not a commentary on the existing Scriptures of the Jews and Christians, which the Quran already acknowledges are legitimate.

quote:

See also 3:78, 4:46, and 5:13
3:78 is speaking of oral sayings ("from their tongues"), not the accepted Christian Scriptures which the Quran has already granted as authoritative.

Surah 4:46 is speaking about disrespectful speech by some Jews in Medina, who twisted the words of Scripture. The emphasis here is on the individuals twisting Scripture, not the corruption of the text.

5:13 is the same thing, where words are twisted/misinterpreted or forgotten. It's talking about people, not the Scriptures, themselves.

You still haven't quoted anything about the Scriptures being corrupted. I'm waiting.

quote:

The Quran doesn’t “teach” just like the Bible doesn’t teach but the Quran does contain passages which state that the Torah and the Gospel are truthful and revealed by God but that neither the Jews nor the Christians have the revealed version - they have corrupted versions.
Both documents make truth claims. That is "teaching". It says that God says that something is true and must be accepted. That's teaching. You're simply wrong about that.

And I'm still waiting for a quotation where the Quran says the Christian Scriptures are corrupted.

quote:

Yes, just like the Jesus-followers attempted to co-opt the John the Baptizer movement, the Muslims attempted to co-opt the Torah and Gospel so as to make it easier to convert Jews and Christians. The writers of the Quran were at least using the infancy gospel of Thomas as a source so we know their “gospel” wasn’t the same as the gospels used by Nicene Christianity.
Of course Muhammad tried to convert Christians by playing nice with Christianity. That's irrelevant. The point is that the Quran is contradictory because it plays nice with the Christian Scriptures that contradict it.

Even if Muhammad believed the infancy gospel was part of Christian belief, it only further proves my point that the Quran is false by its own standards. It didn't know what the Christians actually accepted as the gospel at that point in time, and it clearly taught the Bible was authoritative and not corrupted at that point.

quote:

Muhammad was probably not a historical person.
Ah, here we go again

Even if he were not a historical person, it would only further my point about the false claims of the Quran and the contradictory nature of it. You're arguing for the sake of it at this point, since you aren't actually trying to prove my initial claim wrong (you're actually helping my argument).

quote:

No, what the Quran calls the Torah and the gospel are specifically and explicitly not what Jews and Christians had at the time. You have it arse backwards.
I see you are a fan of fiction

What Christians and Jews believed to be Scripture by-and-large at the time the Quran was written is well documented, and the Quran makes no statement that those writings were corrupted. The corruption hypothesis came later, when Muslim scholars and theologians had to come up with ways to square the circle of the Quran speaking positively about the Bible while the Bible contradicted the Quran. The historical record just doesn't show their accusation to be truthful.

That was my point. The OP doesnt seem to realize that the Muslims (like another religious group) believe they are right and good. They also know that short term victory is not total victory and short term loss is not total loss.

And Sharia Law will rule within a decade. Do yourself a favor and learn how to pray in a mosque and to Allah during the day.
