How will it protect you from viral particles multiple orders of magnitude smaller?

Smoke is much more pervasive in the air than a coronavirus.

An even better question is: If I’m not required to wear a mask at my restaurant table but am when I walk 5 ft to go to the restroom...what is ANY of this preventing?

Masks offer a very minimal amount of protection. Better than nothing, but the idea they are some sort of covid solution is absurd.

What part don't you understand? At your table, you are with your self-selected group. When you leave the table you are around strangers. It would be impossible for it to be any simpler.

Do we really have to show you this shite again?

A standard mask does not. It is not self-protective. It prevents spread of particles from you.

In California, the only mask the authorities said would help you from the smoke was an N95 charcoal filter mask.

And yet with Covid, people are just wearing fricking bandanas to the Supermarket in apparent farce.

This isn't real precaution. If they think we needed real honest precaution they wouldn't be allowing it.

90% of masks are just for show. Because nobody can get the real ones that filter out pathogens.

It does reduce the likelihood if someone with the virus sneezes or coughs and you’re around. Also suppose you only got 30% of the virus as the mask blocked the other 70%, less virus in your body means you’ll recover faster.

Doesn’t the fact that the most protected human being in the world got the bug tell us that masks and all the rest of it are more about politics than health?

You need to publish that. It will be of great interest in the medical community.

Here you go:

When Reagan got shot, his approval rating went through the roof as the media did nothing but cover his recovery.

He then got everything he wanted pushed through Congress.

All the media was talking about was Trump's poor performance at the debate.

This could be a grand political move.

In fact depending on the material and fit, a bandana mask may enhance spread.

Masks can help reduce the amount of virus a person is exposed to and induce an immune response, while ensuring that a large proportion of new infections are asymptomatic.

Yeah and the picture in the article is an N95 mask...not a bandana.

I could link another without a N95 if you’d like. Not everything is fake news. Many publications are saying this around the world. Like this one:

quote:

New England Journal of Medicine, advances the unproven but promising theory that universal face mask wearing might be helping to reduce the severity of the virus and ensuring that a greater proportion of new infections are asymptomatic.

They also did NOT have a physician or someone scientifically sophisticated to help them (or you) understand what they were talking about. The NEJM article was a reference to UNIVERSAL MASKING. It had nothing whatsoever to do with a standard mask protecting the individual wearing it.

And then my friends leave and I have no idea where they’re going after or where they’ve been before, just like the other strangers. You have no idea who your group has come in contact with. The whole logic behind wearing a mask to the table then taking it off when you sit down is ridiculous
