WASHINGTON
Thousands of blue state residents flock to Idaho, bringing conservative politics with them: data

quote:

Thousands of conservative-leaning Washington residents fled the deep blue state for neigboring Idaho, voter data published by the Gem State shows.

Data published by the Idaho Secretary of State’s office shows that out of the nearly 119,000 people who recently moved to the state, 65% registered as Republicans, compared to just 12% registering as Democrats.

The data, which was reviewed by Fox News Digital, show that out of the roughly 20,000 Americans who moved from Washington state to Idaho, 62% registered as Republicans, compared to 12% as Democrats, 24% as unaffiliated and 2% as "other." The percentage of registered Republicans originally from Washington who recently moved to Idaho is actually higher than the state’s overall percentage of registered Republicans, which sits at about 58%.

This is how the Founding Fathers envisioned America.

Small, weak Federal Government with Strong State Governments making most of the laws.

People can move to the State that matches their beliefs.

To achieve this we need the Federal Government to give up some of its power which Governments rarely do until threatened with death.

Great - more evidence that we may be having a Great Sort and not a swarm of locusts turning swing states into California.

That seems like a high percentage of 'unaffiliated' and I'm betting they're largely former Democrats that are too embarrassed to admit it, perhaps going through cognitive dissonance as they're examining their worldview amidst a decision to flee. Still, this is usually sorted out at the individual morality level, not the political level, and so even seeing the difference in somewhere like Idaho, most probably still cling to their Democrat roots due to their insane worldview.

Even so, absolute worst case is 65% Republicans and 36% knuckleheads.

This is true for Idaho in general, but not for Boise proper. Very liberal, mayor is a female dem from Massachusetts and lots of west coast money has driven property prices to where locals are priced out.

Wow, an article about me. The wife and I moved to Idaho from SoCal a few months ago. We registered for local elections in November and, for the first time in a couple of decades, the people we voted for actually won.

This place is wonderful. The neighborhoods are clean and neat, we have yet to see a vagrant, the people are polite and the government institutions all work (the ladies at the DMV are friendly and helpful!). It is like taking a time machine back to the early 60s.

Speak for yourself. I live in Idaho, and I could go with 12 months of winter.

It's true! I was there to register a vehicle. I needed my wife's driver's license, which I didn't have, but the lady was able to work around it with the information I did have. She was highly amused, though, when I had to call my wife to get her birthday (yes, I know).
A week later I was there registering another vehicle. A different lady asked about my wife's information and the first lady I saw, who was dealing with another customer, recognized me and called out "she is in the system." Of course she then dimed me out by telling everyone I had to call her to get her birth date.
Later, when I hadn't gotten my permanent license, I called. A lady picked up (no phone tree), took my info and told me there was a problem and she would call me back. She called in about twenty minutes to tell me the problem had been fixed.
Really, it is a different world here.
