But to answer your question I tend to use different metrics evaluating the discourse between our president and some cat dude on twitter that I've never heard of.

I have five reliably Leftist twitter accounts I check into regularly ( people I know ) to gauge the temperature of The Progressive Fever Swamp and four of five have posted condemnations of Trump and minimized MS-13 atrocities. It’s a STANDARD Progressive talking point. It is more a Fundamentalist Progressive Orthodoxy than “ hyperbole “.
