Yeah, you don't remember Congress stepping in on some contracts that Boeing lost a few years back and making them be awarded to Boeing, instead of the company that won the bids?
Boeing is in way too many pockets in Congress to go anywhere...

I just read an extensive thread (Mike Benz or SD) that Qatar is a huge hub of our CIA.
If I were Trump I wouldn't fly in this fricking plane. JFK on roids in the air.

I read that Boeing may not deliver the new AF1s until 2035. 17 years after they won the contract. Years behind and billions over budget.

President Donald Trump and Boeing have struck a deal over the development of two new Air Force One planes at a price tag of $3.9 billion, the White House and Boeing said Tuesday, and the President has asked for the planes to be ready by 2021.

The White House is touting this as a saving of more than $1 billion from the original estimate of $5 billion.
…
Trump – shortly after winning the presidency in 2016 – tweeted that the planes would cost $4 billion, not $5 billion.

Yep. It’s an even safer bet our SIG Intent guys will have those bugs found and removed with quickness.
Probably a good bet that they never bugged the plane, either.
Would be a fricking embarrassment to get caught bugging a plane you gave as a gift.

Trump should look into one of those retrofitted and updated B52's.

So what, … Boeing should be embarrassed
Posted on 5/12/25 at 2:01 pm to Lsuhoohoo
Boeing does not need Qatar to embarrass them, they do it all on their very own
honestly, i am surprised as hell that they got the contract for the F-47 NGAD

I would say trying to light a fire under their asses, but I guess the term embarrassing works too.
Not awarding them the $20 Billion F-47 contract would have done a whole lot more in that regard.

So Boeing is running 14 years behind the deal they agreed to?

Don't look at the shite show KC46 that makes this two aircraft debacle look clean.

Doesn't cost me any money..what about you?
It's going to cost the American Taxpayers plenty. Everything on this aircraft will have to be scrutinized. EVERYTHING. That's also not counting the extensive secure communication, external defensive systems, and internal security measures. This will probably take at least 2-3 years to complete. The B747-8 is a completely different animal compared to a 50 year old VC-25. Different Everything. That requires engineering, planning, and the physical refit itself. Donald Trump may never even fly on this aircraft as President.

17 years is to long, but I would rather them take their time and get everything right. There is probably a crazy amount of approvals and inspections. It will probably have new tech that has never been seen or tested. They will probably build at least a dozen or more before they can get it right and approved by the White House Military Office.
I doubt the Qatari plane will be even close to what is needed to live up to White House Military Office specs and safety standards.

There will not be a dozen 747s built
The two will hopefully some frickiing day be complete.

They are already planning on stripping the plane down to its frame and then building back. What would be the point of bugging it.

The Defense Department will then retrofit the plane for the president’s use with security features and modifications.

When Could Trump Use The New Plane?
It’s not clear, because the plane would have to be retrofitted to meet the Air Force One standards for security. An unnamed Defense Department official told The New York Times on Sunday it would take a while to secure a contract to make the upgrades, and then actually modify the plane, saying: “We’re talking years, not months.”

What’s the point in all the time and money spent on this if it has to be retired before he leaves office? Doesn’t make sense.

I believe this aircraft was " donated " technically to the USAF, and not to Trump personally, to get around the Charitable Gifts Clause. Congress is going to have a big say in this because of the money required to refit. I don't think they're going to let Trump have this to be eventually chopped up for a Presidential Library if it's supposed to be a bridge to the significantly delayed VC-25 replacement aircraft.
