DeSantis is a presidential level politician,
He would be a fantastic president. He may be the most effective government manager I have seen in my lifetime. Think about what Florida was when he was (barely) elected. It was a purple state on the verge of turning blue. It is now probably the most solidly red state in the country. I don't blame him for running in '24, he didn't want to be another Chris Christie. I think his performance in his second term ensures he won't be. Whatever you may think of his personality, Desantis gets shite done and he gets conservative shite done.

We have seen that most SCOTUS judges drift left, so it needs to be someone hard right, so the drift is minimalized.

I'd be willing to experimentally clone Thomas, Alito or Gorsuch and cross my fingers.

Totally disagree. That would be a complete waste of DeSantis. He is executive material. Lots of conservative legal minds that can excel in Supreme Court role. Not a deep bench for ruling and pressing our political leverage to get meaningful legislation and institutional changes. DeSantis is willing to use his executive authority, as Trump has been.

There are not a lot that have the attributes necessary to effectively carry out the executive role. DeSantis is one of our best options for future presidential runs. I know those that think by running in the primaries he committed some sacrilege against Trump have a hard time getting over their offense, but DeSantis has fortitude and is a very intelligent communicator. He would be a great follow up to Trump. We needs boots on the neck of the left to consolidate the transformation Trump has started.

I think KFC's days are numbered. As the house of cards surrounding the mythical narrative of the 2020 election comes down, so goes the entire legacy of the illegitimate Biden-Harris criminal gang, including that DEI hire in SCOTUS.

An appointment that was likely signed by Autopen and confirmed by a Senate that was the beneficiary of the same election fraud that installed Biden in the first place.

There is truth to this, but it just depends on what we have no way of knowing: what he does next.

If the negativity towards him is just too much, and he never makes it to higher office and is just a pundit or back to private life...obviously we would all prefer he had made it on to the Court.

He's going to run for president again.

This. While we're at it, let's clone three or four of him and appoint them all to SCOTUS.

VP is a dead end job.

Particularly in the Trump administration.

Cruz is more of a constitutional scholar. And he's 8 years older than DeSantis and probably more ready to give up the campaigning for re-election.

I wouldn't say he's behind them at all. But it is fair to say those are the top 3. And all I can say is that we have a great top 3 which is not something I can remember ever saying.

Unless you’re in Alaska (or think he is), the fact that you think that’s “before the sunrise” says way more about you than it does about him.

Age has got to be a factor in a new Supreme Court justice.

Cruz at age 55 may be too old to stay long enough on the court. He might be able to muster 20 years on the court.

DeSantis is 47 and would be better agewise.

Trump needs to find a nominee in his late 40's to put a his huge stamp on a future court.

Heck the clock could be ticking on Roberts since he is 71. If he outlasts his predecessor, William Rehnquist, he still has nine years on the court.

He’ll die on the Court. Whoever has him by the short and curlies will never allow him to retire.

Let's stick to judges serving on the court, not politicians

Any judge high enough to be considered for the Supreme Court is already a politician. You don't get appointed to federal courts for being impartial and apolitical.
