Great explanation of the history behind the 2nd Amendment and what it defines as "arms".

David Botkin of T.REX ARMS explains some of the historical context behind the second amendment, common law, and the Bill of Rights.

Cliff notes?

ETA: The "but" in your subject line tells me I don't want to watch it this late at night before I go to bed. I like to go to bed happy.

Do not post cliff notes. I am not ridding that drivel. There is no "but" with regards to the second amendment. If people don't realize that now then they must be retarded.

It's a pro 2A video. It's deeper history on the argument of "Well, that's not what the founding fathers meant". You'll be happy. Trust me.

The second amendment is so regular citizens have the same weapons as our own military in case we have to have a Government correction if freedom is ever threatened or Government gets too big...

You'd think his brother would pay him a little better so he doesn't dress like someone from accounts payable.

No. The citizenry is the militia. That is U.S. law. You have to understand the Constitution in the context of the period it was written. We did not have a standing army hence we were not attempting to stand up to it. Every citizen had a responsibility to participate in the common defense and in the maintaining of the civil peace. Hence they had to be adequately armed for both tasks. They were expected to be armed.

ETA:

10 U.S. Code § 246 - Militia: composition and classes

(a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.
(b) The classes of the militia are—
(1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and
(2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia.

Highly recommend you read a period piece entitled “Tracts, Concerning the Ancient and only True Legal Means of National Defence, by a Free Militia” by Granville Sharp. It is a free download. Truly enlightening about what the intent and purpose of arming the populace. You can make the argument that this is no longer a necessity, but you cannot make the argument that the purpose and intent is not clear.

Too many people today don't understand the difference between militia and standing army. The militia is basically everyone.

Well said. "Well regulated" = "If and when we must gather to form a necessary militia to protect the free state, we need all you militiamen to bring your own arms sufficient for the job. It's basically up to y'all to ensure we're well-regulated in terms of the necessary arms. We'll do our part to ensure no one can prohibit this as we deem it an inalienable right."

Commenting before watching the video tells me that you're ignorant and quick to jump blindly into an argument without knowing what you're even arguing about.

It explains the history of 2A and is actually AGAINST gun control measures. You should really watch it. It is worth your time. "Pro second amendment but" is just the title of the video....

It brought up some good points I am going to use against my liberal co-workers.
