You just typed these 2 things back to back
So, if he's not trying to influence his son, what is he doing with respect to his son (not money)?
Do you want me to post some definitions of indoctrination?

the process of teaching a person or group to accept a set of beliefs uncritically.

Indoctrination means teaching someone to accept a set of beliefs without questioning them.

Why was he giving his son money in the first place?
Why did he stop?
If you want to frame only one portion of this while ignoring the flip side, that's fine. It's just disingenuous. The father was fine supporting his son when the sons believed what the father demands.
Remove the money. What other sorts of support do you think he can withdraw from his son because the son won't believe what the father demands?

This is the foundation upon which the issues of this thread is built.
College students will continue to turn into progressives as long as those two groups have their indoctrination monopolies.

This should happen.
My wife's cousin is a student at Stanford. She was raised by very conservative parents in one of the few conservative areas of California. Got to school, became very liberal.
Now she is an RA in one of the dorms. Sees money coming out of her paycheck for Cali taxes to support the illegals and is starting to see the light.

College isn't the real world, and a lot of properly raised kids go retard at college. Most of them grow out of it, some as soon as they become productive members of society and learn how the world works.
I'm just not sure this is true anymore. It seems to me more likely that the loons come out of these institutions and change the "real" world to their image.
Those shrieking law students we all saw at Stanford in that clip circulating the other day aren't going to have any scales fall from their eyes once they graduate and pass the bar. They are going to shape the law to suit them, to all our detriment.

Tell me he has at least a bachelor’s by now.
Yes, he has his degree in electrical engineering and is finishing up his degree in mathematics. He has a job already and will be making almost 6 figures right out of college.
And yes, you guys are right, he does have a liberal girlfriend, but I never thought she could change his beliefs so radically.
We won't "cut him off" until he graduates because that is a promise we made to our children because that is what my parents did for me.

Damn near all universities have left leanings. Even Wyoming in Laramie is a little whack. Most young people who leave universities as libs eventually come back to the right once they start living in the real world.

If you’re not a liberal at 20, you have no heart. If you’re not a conservative at 40, you have no brain- Churchill
Relax, he’ll come back around once he starts paying taxes and has children. Those two life moments usually sober people up and bring them back to the middle of the road.

That depends entirely on where they work.
If they go work for the ACLU or some non-profit? Sure
If they go work in IB in NYC? Much less true.

Ask why he went to bama and got a degree while so many in the state didn’t.
Ask him if that’s fair. Shouldn’t everyone get what he got?

As soon as I read it, knew it was a girl. Someone far more rigid in their beliefs. Good luck to him.

Sounds like he's just giving lip service to the chick. He'll snap out of it as soon as he starts working. Hell, she likely will too if she's tagging along.

Agreed.
The pearl clutching is vastly overblown.
People should change and develop new and different ideologies throughout their entire lives.

If you had actually raised him right and provided bulletproof teaching examples to him through your own actions in his home life, then no amount of Jewish propaganda in the universities would have gotten through to him.
Imagine admitting your failures on a forum like this. Sad!

You are an enabler.
He has his degree in electrical engineering. You promised him multiple degrees?

You need to sit him down and tell him how disappointed you are in him and that those views will destroy him.
No, he needs to let the kid find his own path, and trust that he has raised him well enough.
too many parents try to hard push ideas on their kids, and end up lonely old parents. College is a good chance to have your eyes opened to the world. For his first 18 years he lived with one world view. Thats fine, but you go to college and you see new things, and hear new ways of thinking. Good on his kid for having an open mind, thats rare. That said, as many others have stated he will come back around when the real world hits.
Just remembered that too much of one thing is a bad thing. There are people that are too conservative , closed minded, and unable to hear another point of view.

Bingo.
Through activism or employment. Even worse when they become elected officials.
CRT started and grew in law school.

I sent one conservative raised son to UCA in Conway, one to Fayetteville. Got back libertarian bordering on anarchist types back. They have since learned that if the Rule of Law and the Constitution are a good thing and necessary, then someone has to enforce it. Which puts them back to about where I was to begin with, which is to say all forms of government should be reduced in size and scope by about 85%
