I am hoping a lot of these "cut him off" comments are in jest. People legit want their kids to be NPCs and avoid any self development or realization. That's the mentality of a cult and you only create drones with cults.
Seriously?
A 5th year college student should arguably already be on his own.
A 5th year college student that has political and economic views diametrically opposed to his benefactors should definitely be on his own.
What could be the argument against this? (Especially for a budding socialist benefiting from the fruits of capitalism)

Depends on the arrangement. 5 years is very common for an engineering degree.

I am thinking, maybe you should have pushed a little bit. Or done a bit more research on what classes he was taking maybe? Don’t know what to say.

So you can’t explain why this situation wouldn’t be boycotting? How completely not surprising

He's going to have some thinking to do about centralized control shortly.

Not a chance. This is your show.

Exactly. You’re not intelligent enough to explain why you think something is incorrect.

I’ve already said it would be boycotting. Why would I explain why it wouldn’t be? You’re the one saying it isn’t. Try to keep up progressive moron.

You turned the whole thing around. When I asked if father withheld his wife's monthly allowance for more sex, is he boycotting his wife, since that is analogous to the father son scenario already discussed, that would be boycotting his wife.
So explain why that is boycotting the wife.

Oh wait, you thought I was going to respond to your scenario after your outright refusal to respond to mine? That’s so cute

I’ll answer all the questions in your post after you answer all the questions you’ve ignored in mine. Can’t wait to see you not attempt

Our educational system doesn’t encourage critical thinking, independent thinking,it discourages it.Studets are rewarded for conforming, cramming their heads with facts and ability to regurgitate them.
We just got a front row seat at this during the Covid fiasco.Vast majority of Drs. were pushing the “vax”,”get your booster””wear your mask”,”ivermectin is poison”,”trust the science”.Highly educated sheeple for the most part. The few that pushed back, questioned the “science” were ridiculed and worse by their peers.

Hell, even I think some salaries are crazy. Mainly celebrities.
Nothing wrong with that. Capitolism isnt perfect ya know, but its def better rhan everything else.
Complaining about stupid salaries isnt promoting socialism.

Send him to live in a socialist country for a few years. That'll straighten him out.

Teach through example, you gotta let the kid make up their own mind.
When they go to college on your dime, all bets are off. They'll become whatever their peers become.

Sorry to hear that.
Sent my kids to college as independent thinkers.
Both turned out pretty damn good...

No, he needs to let the kid find his own path, and trust that he has raised him well enough.
No. If deny your kid of tough love this is what happens.
Kids need positive and negative reinforcement. Not every situation should end in a hug. Lack of parenting is why this stuff is happening.
