I am astounded and disgusted with how Ds will disregard even the most egregious behavior to achieve power.

On the flipside, ultra-conservative Alabama elected Democrat Doug Jones to the Senate because his Republican opponent was accused of sexual misconduct with underage girls.
Three years later, Democrats support Biden with the most votes in history, even though there was video of him being inappropriate with underage girls, including pinching a young girl's nipple, and his own daughter stating he made her shower with him.
Democrats elected a guy with brain damage over a Harvard educated heart surgeon for Senate, which is amazing because now the guy with brain damage is arguably the only somewhat decent Democrat senator.
And Democrats will soon elect Nazi Platner, after spending the previous 10 years lecturing us that white supremacists are the greatest threat to our nation.
The Democrat party is a cult.

They've been that way since Clinton. They tried it and realized that it works, especially with a complicit media. They're further along on this path than the right but we're all moving in the same direction.

The leader of your party was found guilty of fraud, legally can’t run a charity because of fraud, cheated on multiple wives, said because he’s famous he can “grab women by the pussy”, found liable for sexual assault.
The guy running for senate in TX, who this board overwhelmingly supports, also cheated on his wife, was impeached by his own party for bribery, investigated, recently his office sentenced a child predator to 1 day in prison….but yeah it’s the Dems who disregard bad behavior.

Yeah, this is definitely a bipartisan issue. I often wonder how much we'd be better off without political parties. Imagine if we voted for the brightest, most capable and decent candidates, instead of selecting one just because of the D or R by their name.

And that’s different from Republicans? Both parties are despicable in that regard and there is no difference despite what you want to tell yourself. It’s why we have the cesspool we have in DC.

He definitely did. He saw the factions begin in his own cabinet between the Federalists and Democratic Republicans. Washington knew that, eventually, voters and politicians would put party power above the good of the country.

The OP of this thread started by talking about Ds ignoring egregious behavior.
The person you responded to talked about Paxton’s egregious behavior. You’re changing the argument right now.
Both guys (Platner & Paxton) pretty clearly seem to be pretty terrible guys with Paxton’s infractions occurring a lot more recently.

There's no trick to solving this then. Conservative pols declare the R party to be anti-American (or similar), decamp, put a D after their names, and then get on with the business of repairing the nation.

Well, remember... ol' Dougie lied - like many politicians, and almost all Democratic candidates, when he stated he was willing to work with Trump and supported most of his agenda. It's the only way they can get elected in a conservative state. Lie, then pivot.
He slipped in because most of Alabama was turned off by the vilification of Jeff Sessions and the embarrassment it brought.
Once elected, he became a model democrat... Impeachment sure, let's do it twice.
There's a reason, after 3 short years, Doug lost by a landslide.
