No, it gets put right back into the body of water it came from, only a few degrees warmer.

Unless they're using a cooling tower, and most don't. With a cooling tower it evaporates.

Most of these data centers are using ground water not surface water. The ones with surface water intakes almost all use cooling towers due to EPA cooling water intake structure requirements. Using a cooling tower w/ multiple cycles is an easier compliance option than alternatives.

Data centers use whatever the local water utility provides.

Elon wants to put them in orbit. He said this and of course, the masses mocked him but I bet a dollar to a donut, they'll all be in space in the next decade.. Probably right around the time they've finished building all the infrastructure for the earthbound ones that are no longer necessary and redundant.

Water use is a huge concern where water availability is a normal issue

Power need is astronomical but at least Trump will make them responsible to build their own substation

Noise pollution

Compared to?

Have any of you folks even been in a data center? Or even near one?

That's what I'm saying. My clothes dryer puts off more noise pollution than some of these units.

Actually, most of the data centers are designed with a closed loop. Once the system is filled, it's not taking or losing water from anywhere.

Also, someone talked about water loss from power generation. I'm working on one project and the generators are all air-cooled. 50dB at 200' away, and it's out in the middle of nowhere. The only ones bothered by that level of noise would be cows.

Once again the closed loop heat has to be dumped somewhere, being closed is irrelevant, the waste comes from the heat dump. Either energy or water is being used, and energy has indirect water waste. Running the electric on solar or wind would consume minimal, however it is going to be fossil more than likely. Nuclear while the cleanest, is the largest consumer of water.

Loud noise is not the issue, but rather the steady constant hum of what is going on. Essentially once in place, there is never absolute quiet again. 24/7 low steady hum.

Resource Hogs. Higher utility bills.
And once the construction is done, very few new jobs, albeit, high paying.

So you're saying air-cooled natural gas burning generators will waste a lot of water? You're going to have to explain that to me like I'm 5, because your logic isn't making sense.

Of course

It's terrible for air quality
