He’s a liberal but he sees the far left for the radicals that they are. If he had any morals he’d become an independent he clearly doesn’t fit in with that party anymore

Pelosi said she's putting paid leave back in the BBB bill despite knowing that Manchin is opposed and that it will significantly drive the price tag past his alleged red line of $1.7 trillion. If Manchin had any real grit, he would just come out and say Brandon's bill is dead and he's killing it by vowing to vote no.

He remains a Dem because he holds some power in that caucus.
McConnell hates to ruffle feathers and probably doesn't welcome the headaches that Manchin switching parties would include.

When he signs onto this multi trillion dollar monstrosity in the coming month, I hope your adoration for him holds steadfast.
He just said last night's result made him more steadfast in his concern around the reconciliation bill, and a number of others have joined him. We'll see.

Well, he has you fooled. He is pretty unprincipled as most politicians are. He will say a lot but look at his history and what he has DONE.

I.e., the cost of poker just went up.

and what he has DONE
Not voted for Biden/Pelosi/Schumer's bullshite bill?

quote:Exactly!
He votes with Chuck Schumer 90% of the time
That is why I don't understand conservatives getting starry-eyed over him. He says one thing and votes another.
Plus he defended his POS daughter who raised the price of Epipens 500%.

Just a matter of time and the pot being right. He’ll cave eventually, probably to an “acceptable” price tag on the bill but he will vote to approve.

I'd say he's making history by what he's doing for the country right now!

Not voted YET. If he remains a no then that will be a change in his behavior. Last close vote the non-profit his wife runs got a few hundred million thrown her way and all of the sudden he was for it.

Shush now.
Don't be disparaging the name of Senator Joe Manchin, whose principles are only for sale for the very highest of prices.

If we have more moderate Dems like him this country would be better off.
While I agree he is much better than Chuck Schumer and his ilk, never forget Manchin voted twice to impeach Trump. Lost all respect for him then. Both impeachments were blatantly bogus.

This. He's voted to confirm every single one of Brandon's cabinet and federal judge nominees. And to be fair, L. Graham has voted about the same way.

frick Joe Manchin! His arse is just as liberal as the others but he’s just better at hiding it than they are.
He is pro gun rights, pro energy, pro filibuster, and pro (semi)fiscal responsibility. At this point he has much more in common with conservatives than liberals in DC.

He actually did far worse than vote twice to impeach Trump.
He voted twice to convict Trump.
He's a Jan 6 believer.

If his arse wasn’t on the line next election he would be right in the middle with them, so don’t make him out to be some great hero. But I’m happy that the complex system we have is actually keeping them in check
