Sir, how dare you ask serious questions at a time like this? Can't you just fall in line and join the other clapping seals on their pedestals? If you do, you will get a nice, fresh fish.

So, I suppose you tried to steer your son away from the military, and he told you to get bent. Sounds like he doesn’t have much respect for his father’s opinion.

Semi-related personal anecdote: In the summer of 1981 I was employed as an engineering intern by Cities Service oil, whose HQ was in Tulsa.
Shortly thereafter, they were acquired by Occidental. Oxy spun off the CITGO gasoline business, which is now owned by the government of Venezuela.

You are aware the body guards for Maduro were Cuban? My best guess is dead Cubans now. Cuba has no capability. China and especially Russia are not located logistically to get involved.
I am not following the minutiae of the claimed actions, and no, I didn't know Maduro's body guards are said to be Cuban. (aka mercs)

Central America is way out of Russia's sphere of influence. China? I assume they are already well embedded in other Central-South America countries; and ironically also already well embedded within the USA (the incoming additional 500,000 Chinese students to be admitted into America notwithstanding.)
I'm sorry -- I remain skeptical of US involvement and "official" goals that are claimed to benefit the Venezuelan people. Based on ME policies and actions, our track record and credibility is suspect to say the least.

Another vile and angry person.
Your supposition is so far off the mark, it is laughable.

I'm pretty sure they have their hooks into Chile. China owns controlling interest in SQM, a Chilean company that is the world's largest lithium producer. I have owned their stock in the past.

Oh gosh how I wish the word young applied to me. You posed a “what about”question I merely asked you how you knew those things weren’t happening already. You’re posting like this is an incredibly bad thing and it may not be. we simply don’t know.

I generally think “follow the money” is sound advice.
The problem with this action, as with all “regime change operations, is what happens next. Will Venezuela become
a lawless state with no disciplined government? This could prove to be more of a problem for the U.S. interests and drug exports.

Interesting that you didn’t post my entire post. Typical leftist behavior.

This was not a former socialist government. 25% of the population of Venezuela were forced from their property. There were quite a few engineers educated in SEC collages from Venezuela. I worked with quite a few Electrical Engineers. These people could not go home. Their land seized and family farms taken by force.
This ends drug trafficking, should the remnants of the government get on board. An end to the Chinese ramp.
America First. Democrats screaming about this are knee deep in Minnesota. That cabal needs to STHU. Quit stealing from citizens of the US.

Explain how this will stop drug trafficking?
And why has Trump pardoned over 100 Drug traffickers?

I have a few questions:
Venezuela did not elect Maduro. The rightful ruler will be installed.
Venezuela is full blown communist against the peoples will.
Venezuela went from the best country in SA to the worst under communist rule.
Trump is extracting revenge for a number of reasons. One of which is the rigging of the election in the US and also elections abroad.
Maduro is ruling over the country as a the head of the drug cartels. We are at war officially with them.
Maduro emptied his jails by sending them to the USA. We don't want their drug dealing murderers here.
Maduro was waging war against the US. Trying to destroy us and bring us down by turning the US into crime ridden shite hole.
Trump has rightly shifted the focus of the USA to our neighbors instead of half way around the world, of countries that are separated from us by oceans. There is a reason our enemies have concentrated on influence in central and south America.
Hope this answers some of your questions. Oh and yeah the people of Venezuela are celebrating right not. You should too.

I understand that we want to damage the cartels. Will this regime-change action get us any closer to accomplishing that goal? If so, how? I need that to be explained to me.
Think of it this way: the sinkings of the drug boats were shots across the bow, warnings to the cartels that we would come for them through Venezuela.
This is only the pretty bow to distract from the bigger goal, to halt the encroachment of Russia and China into the western hemisphere through Venezuela (Maduro started working with the Chinese on expending their Belt and Road initiative with a Memorandum of Understanding in 2018).
Another secondary effect is hoped to be the return to Venezuela of the many citizens who fled the Maduro regime. With the spectacular failure of socialism there, I have to wonder how much in-fighting there will be as the returning citizens flush out the regime leaders and their followers (IF that happens). It's possible the new leadership there is able to use this momentum to begin reforms which could bring Venezuela back to its prior prominence.

So when is the US invading Chile? Muh-Monroe Doctine is clearly violated!
