Yes and no. A few of her biggest donors who just so happen to make their fortune in the hospitality industry told her their financial support was tied to removing, not because they gave a shite in principle about the Confederate Memorial, but the negative press would impact their business, so you know, follow the money.
There were also rumors that Volvo threatened not to pick us if it stayed, but I don’t buy into those rumors because the county tax incentives were so good that the other sites they were considering were not really in the running.

My last name once had an O' in front but apparently Irish immigrants weren't popular in the Reconstruction South so they dropped it.
