The reason is American politicians get bribes that are not actually bribes but campaign contributions to not negotiate cheaper prices

Did you read your own link?

How much of that do you believe?

A drug company has a patent. A monopoly. And you think a single payer system has negotiating leverage over pricing?
Honestly.

Look at the lack of information in #5.
Why does a foreign company need to honor and respect US drug patent law? What enforcement does the US have to prevent other countries from taking the drugs that we research and develop and to not produce and sell them on their own?

The reason why other countries pay less is they threaten piracy against our drug companies. And our drug companies do not have any leverage to defend or prevent against it. So they negotiate prices low enough to discourage piracy.

Piracy is a loss (like theft) on the balance sheet of a company. Which gets offset by the actual prescription drug payors (US markets).

Donald Trump is trying to enforce a Most Favored Nation prescription drug policy.
If it works, it is a great achievement for the American people.
If other countries do not like their new pricing models and go with the piracy model, then the new law is a disaster.

Correct. The Finnish people paid for your care with astronomical taxes. Someone making $45k US over there has to pay 38% in taxes.

Our joint tax rate last year was 8% on more than triple the income.

Most people who advocate for socialism want the U.S. to resemble the Scandanavian system (free education, free healthcare, minimal homelessness, great support for poor families, etc). However, their political organizations are catfishing them.

The reality is that even if they weren’t being catfished, a scandanavian style welfare state simply wouldn’t be sustainable (even with strict closed borders) due to its scale and the ease of huge dependent underclasses to “free-ride” until it collapses. The math bears this out, but most people cannot conceptualize numbers larger than a million. To them, a million, billion, or trillion might as well be the same thing. Their eyes glass over as soon as the numbers come up that prove there simply isn’t enough money to pay for what they want for everyone in a country this size.

Not to mention, the Scandinavian countries were very capitalistic before implementing socialism. They built great wealth under capitalism and have since watched their prosperity stagnate under socialism. They seem to be trying now to reverse course while our people beg to chart the same failed path those Scandinavians are now abandoning.

Conservatives should stop demonizing college education. There's nothing wrong with encouraging your kids to pursue science and engineering, or other majors where this stuff isn't taught.

To me, socialist policies need not be discussed beyond its framework. That framework requires a shitton more trust in an already hopelessly swampy government. It's a non-starter right out of the gate.

Radical teachers unions and a socialist education system have been working for this moment for decades. It's going to get much worse over the next 20 years before it get's better as these brainwashed kids become voting age and people old enough to remember the cold war die off.

I watched a Youtube vid a while back with some dude walking around the streets of NYC asking random loafers and assorted lollygaggers standing around on the streets if they were currently employed. If they said no he told them he owned a landscaping company and was looking to hire a few new employees, starting salary $40/hour. I know the vid was likely edited for effect but it was crazy how many of those not working didn't want a $40/hour job doing landscaping work.

That's true. However, these science and engineering curriculums on the collegiate level also require those common core classes of philosophy, sociology, political science, gender studies now, etc. Welding, electrician, HVAC, Carpentry, plumbing, pipefitting, millwright, power lineman, etc... do not. Thus, no opportunity to brainwash students with their leftist, progressive crap.

And the cost for YOUR medical care to the Finnish citizen? 45% of the average Finnish citizens wages when you account for all taxes applied to them. Did you thank the citizens for paying 45% of their earnings for your stay?

ETA: Also, Finland has a 25% VAT tax on goods and services (the dreaded tariffs you hate). They also had a net of 50,000 immigrants last year.

The entire technocrat/Private Equity platform as well

Control is control, from the peasants’ perspective it doesn’t matter if it is a government or out of control corporations in league with the government (which, practically speaking, is worse because it is an unelected government)

It’s interesting to see how the attitude toward socialism has changed over the decades

It used to be that democrats awkwardly ran from the word to avoid being called “socialist” even though their policies were within the framework of socialism.

Now we see politicians embracing it. The days of Kennedy democrats has all but disappeared.

Even the issue of healthcare has morphed. It used to be considered socialist to consider healthcare or Medicare for all. Now, we have moderates embracing it.

The republicans need to do a better job of explaining the strengths of capitalism and self sufficiency. Ronald Reagan was good at it articulating the strengths of capitalism and individual freedom. Milton Friedman, while not a politician, was good at articulating the negative realities of socialism and benefits of capitalism.

Today, we have a void. And I think it’s going to cost us

You can blame the university to an extent, but the real blame are the parents who get these kids through high school and then just forget them afterwards.

That's exactly what the college's hope happens.

Four years later you wonder why your kid suddenly doesn't believe in GOD, thinks Communism is the greatest thing since sliced bread, and believes you and Mom are horrible people.

Because #1 even if you raised them in church, you didn't raise them in Christ, and #2 you gave up on investing in your child's time after they turned 18.

But the economics we were taught had one caveat conservatives consistently forget, anti-trust laws being enforced

We are led by tards who are looking to be controlled and paid off by the highest bidders. Laws and economics are purely theoretical at this point
