He acted alone. The vulnerabilities in the security around Trump were almost certainly intentional and based on the contempt with which the Biden Administration holds Trump, as well as the DEI disease. Those weaknesses allowed an unsophisticated attacker to just waltz right in and get a clear shot. But he was acting alone.

I lean to Crooks being the shiny object and the real players behind the scenes did the dirty work. I still can't reconcile the trajectory paths of the bullets that hit Trump and the crowd. Two different trajectories/point of origin.

Fact: the US Secret Service has publicly commented that the securing the building that Crooks climbed on to take a shot at Trump was the responsibility of Local Law Enforcement.
Fact: Local Law Enforcement subsequently confirmed in a press release that their responsibility at the venue was traffic only, and that that was at the request of, and direction of, the US Secret Service.
Fact: the US Secret Service has not responded in any way to the local law enforcement claim. The media has made no public move - questioning, writing articles, demanding answers, the standard righteous indignation - to force the US Secret Service to square the facts above.

At this time, there's no reason to think that this was anything more than a security lapse that allowed a 20-year-old nutcase to take a few shots at a presidential candidate. The eagerness of people (even in 2024) to entertain baseless conspiracy theories and acts of divine intervention demonstrates why we have so many religions.
People don't want to believe the mundane. There's no intrigue or excitement to it.
