I was visiting with my sister yesterday, she has a daughter who recently graduated from Alabama, a son currently at Alabama and a son who is a high school senior. All three were very upset about this travesty. Young people are waking up.

My son graduated from Tech this spring and was a member of Turning Point there. He never met CK but knew about it instantly.

Kirk had a huge impact on today's youth and would've likely been president one day.

I’m not 72 (I’m 52), but I’ve watched and listened to lots of his content/message. He was literally doing the Lords work. I can’t imagine how hard this is on the younger generation, because it has hit me very hard.

My wife is a high school teacher. She said it’s been rough so far this morning.

Could you elaborate a little more on this statement, please?
Was it rough on her?, rough on the students she interacts with? rough because of interaction with other teachers?
I suspect it was rough because the students were upset and despondent or angry.

I’m genuinely lost as to how I’m supposed to break this down for him

And not just the Charlie Kirk incident. Everything. I would love to figure out an easy way to break down politics in our country to an 11 year old

I guess my question is, how the hell do I break this down for a preteen? I had no clue he knew who Charlie Kirk was.
Tell him:

"Know who MLK was? Same thing, only instead of advocating for the rights of black people, Charlie promoted and advocated for Christian values, speaking to truth and enlightenment and advocating for the same principles of equality and fairness as Dr. King. His death makes him a patriot and a martyr for our God-given right to know real truth and he's now forever woven into the fabric of our country's cloth."

*edit note: I was 12 in 1968. RFK and MLK assassinations were very emotionally upsetting for me and shaped my worldview forever. I understand everyone's concern for their kids

Honestly i feel like hes made so much content they just need to package the highlights together and make it fricking required learning before college.

They tried to shut him up, make him louder for the people in the back. Instead of call to prayer on PA systems across our cities, twice a day we play 2-3 minutes of Kirk’s best

My 11 year old didn’t know who Charlie was, but I unapologetically raise him to hate communists.

You are correct on your assumption. Also she loves her students and when they hurt she hurts for/with them.

I mentioned on here yesterday that my 11 year old came home from school pissed off about it yesterday, but I was scrolling through his group chat with his buddies on his iPad last night and the whole group was fired up.

My girlfriend's 3 daughters ages 11, 16, 20 were all crying about it and my 2 sons ages 18 and 16 were pissed! This younger generation is gonna change the tide IMO and you leftist Democrat POS can rot in hell as far as I am concerned with your mentally ill political views and thoughts! Piss off!!!

shiftworker Thank you.

I imagine you're going to have some interesting conversations with your wife in the next few days.
I'm an old and just learning about Charlie Kirk. I do recall seeing a couple of X posts from time to time on the PT. Seems like he must have been a great person as he touched so many young people, and I'm heartbroken for them. Going to be very discouraging for them and they'll need some help getting through.

Well if that’s why they assassinated Kirk because of having young people ears and thoughts then they really FA and will FO because this is about as strong as outrage I’ve seen outta them

Someone made a good point out of this: will campuses even allow speakers now?

Kirk made a big impact on college kids getting brainwashed and diving into the academic fluff that clowded students minds such as anti-DEI=racism.. Can there even be another Charlie Kirk if there is another out there.

I’ve tried, but I can’t even figure out how to explain to a child, what a communist is

I might make a thread later on for greater discussion

Thanks to yall who answered my initial question

There will be others that get out there but Kirk was more well rounded in family and values than the next five
