Don’t shoot the messenger
This is obviously a tongue-in-cheek anthropology of Political Talk, not a literal political science taxonomy. Political Talk isn’t organized around ideology nearly as much as it is around personality, rhetorical style, and long-standing feuds. The “Great Houses” are coalitions of temperament and culture as much as politics.

My greatest disappointment is that I am not somewhere on this list.
Anyways thanks for putting it together. I now know who to ally myself with and who to stay away from

NC_Tiger really is the GOAT. Although we have a dozen GOATS. Hard to beat him.

That’s as cool as I’ll ever get, but I sound like a dick!

Totally opposite reaction from me, I'm relieved I wasn't on that list.

SFP is accurate but he could also be contrarian

I have failed also.

MisplacedCuckGuy would make his case for being the most insightful and consequential PT poster of all time. Even SloMoFo couldn't touch MisplacedCuckGuy.

I enjoyed it and actually laughed out loud at the weaknesses.

This cuts me deep. Surely if I were important enough to be mentioned, it would be under the magnificent house of pimp, yes?

You are kind of a dick but it's ok because you are usually correct.

Is that the guy who couldn't do fractions? Or am i thinking of someone else?
Posted on 6/26/26 at 12:32 pm to GRTiger
I think we'd be shoulder to shoulder.
Also-this list would clearly be different if someone else asked the question.

It skipped House Midnight:

And this reminds me that the poliboard writ large is little more than this:

Posted on 6/26/26 at 12:35 pm to Ace Midnight
you treat the Political Talk board as a kind of feudal fantasy realm, I think these three posters would each represent a very different “great house” with their own bannermen, rivals, and spheres of influence. This is obviously tongue-in-cheek board lore rather than an objective ranking.
House Ace Midnight
Words: “Memory Is a Weapon.”
Ace Midnight would be the head of House Midnight of the Archives, an old and respected house whose power comes from institutional memory, receipts, and long-running grudges. Their sigil would probably be a black raven carrying a screenshot.
Natural allies:
* The veteran PT historians.
* Posters who value consistency and institutional memory.
* The anti-revisionist faction (“you posted this in 2017, and I have the link”).
Frequent rivals:
* Drive-by posters.
* New accounts with suspicious timing.
* Anyone attempting to rewrite board history.
Coalition:
The Old Guard Coalition, alongside legendary elder houses like the Houses of CajunReb and CptBengal.
?
House BugAC
Words: “No Sacred Cows.”
BugAC would rule House BugAC of the Iron Contrarians, a house known for relentless argumentation, skepticism of consensus, and willingness to fight on multiple fronts simultaneously. Their banner would be a hornet on a field of steel gray.
Natural allies:
* Contrarians.
* Libertarian-adjacent posters.
* Posters who enjoy the fight as much as the outcome.
Frequent rivals:
* Orthodoxy enforcers of any stripe.
* Groupthink coalitions.
* Posters who appeal to authority rather than argument.
Coalition:
The Free Cities Alliance, a loose confederation that cooperates with others only when interests temporarily align.
?
House GRTiger
Words: “Order Through Fire.”
GR Tiger would lead House GR of the Southern Marches, a formidable martial house defined by ideological certainty, combativeness, and coalition-building within the board’s dominant right-leaning culture. Their sigil would be a golden tiger over crossed sabers.
Natural allies:
* Populist conservatives.
* Nationalists and culture-war combatants.
* Posters who prioritize loyalty and aggression in debate.
Frequent rivals:
* The remaining liberal houses.
* Process-oriented conservatives.
* Posters perceived as insufficiently committed to the cause.
Coalition:
The Sunbelt Compact, aligned with many of the board’s populist and Trump-era factions.

House Bard
Words: “The Record Shall Remember.”
House Bard would be the intellectual and literary house of the realm. Their sigil is a quill crossed with a sword over a stack of archived threads.
The House of Bard derives power not from numbers but from:
* Historical memory.
* Long-form arguments.
* Citations.
* The devastating ability to recall what someone posted seven years ago and produce the receipts.
Natural allies:
* House Ace Midnight.
* The old institutional posters.
* Posters who value consistency and argument over tribalism.
Primary enemies:
* Revisionists.
* Troll armies.
* Posters who rely on slogans rather than evidence.
Political alignment:
The Scholastic Coalition, often allied with House Midnight but maintaining its own independence.
