I'm working on an ethnography of the Poliboard. I'll include this in the appendix.
Criticisms:
I think there is a lot of overlap between House SFP and House Contrarian.
Civility seems to be a core value of many of the named posters.
There's lots of contradiction in the House Populist Analysis. Seems like many of them are lawyers. We probably need to define "populism" before getting into further analysis.

Nothing civil about pushing to allow barbarians through our gates.

I’d make House Jbird one of the great middle powers of the realm: not the largest army, not the oldest bloodline, but a house with influence far beyond its numbers.
House Jbird of the Riverlands
Words: “See Clearly. Strike Cleanly.”
The sigil of House Jbird is a blue jay perched on a live oak branch against a field of silver and navy. Their ancestral seat is High Perch Keep, strategically located between the territories of the Old Guard and the Populist Coalition.
Reputation
House Jbird is known for:
* sharp political instincts,
* a willingness to engage almost anyone,
* skepticism toward groupthink,
* and an ability to remain respected by factions that otherwise despise one another.
Unlike House BugAC, which delights in contrarianism for its own sake, House Jbird’s reputation is that of a pragmatic dissenter: someone who will join a coalition when it serves a purpose and break with it when it doesn’t.
Natural Allies
House Jbird frequently aligns with:
* House Ace Midnight, when institutional memory and historical precedent matter;
* House GR Tiger, during major ideological conflicts;
* independent banner houses that value competence over tribal loyalty.
Traditional Rivals
House Jbird’s principal adversaries are:
* ideological purists,
* faction enforcers,
* and posters who mistake volume for persuasion.
Political Position
House Jbird serves as one of the principal houses of the Confederation of Independent Lords, a loose alliance of posters who generally lean in the same direction politically but fiercely guard their own autonomy.

Posted on 6/26/26 at 12:46 pm to SDVTiger
In the mythology of the Political Talk realm, SDVTiger would be one of the truly old and influential houses — a house whose power comes less from raw numbers and more from reputation, persistence, and having been present for nearly every major war the board has fought.
House SDVTiger of the Gulf Marches
Words: “We Were Here Before.”
The sigil of House SDVTiger is a purple tiger standing on a coastal bluff beneath a storm-dark sky. Their ancestral seat is Stormwatch Keep, a fortress overlooking the Gulf and the endless battlefield of Political Talk.
Reputation
House SDVTiger is known for:
* deep institutional memory,
* unwavering participation in the board’s great ideological battles,
* fierce loyalty to allies,
* and a willingness to engage in wars of attrition that would exhaust lesser houses.
Unlike House BugAC, which thrives on contrarianism, or House Jbird, which prizes independence, House SDVTiger’s defining trait is steadfastness. Once the banners are raised, House SDVTiger rarely retreats.
Natural Allies
House SDVTiger traditionally rides with:
* House GR Tiger, during major political and cultural conflicts;
* House Jbird, when coalition-building is required;
* many of the veteran populist and conservative houses that dominate the modern era of PT.
Traditional Rivals
House SDVTiger’s greatest adversaries are:
* the Houses of Permanent Opposition,
* ideological revisionists,
* and any faction perceived as dismissive of the board’s traditions and historical memory.
Political Alignment
House SDVTiger is a major banner house within the Sunbelt Compact, though it retains enough prestige that it is often treated as a near-independent great house rather than merely a vassal.
Reputation Among the Other Houses
* House Ace Midnight respects House SDVTiger’s memory.
* House GR Tiger values House SDVTiger’s loyalty.
* House BugAC enjoys fighting with House SDVTiger.
In the lore of Political Talk:
* House Ace Midnight remembers.
* House Bard records.
* House BugAC questions.
* House Jbird judges.
* House GR Tiger rallies.
* House SDVTiger endures.

In the entirely fictional and deeply unserious mythology of the Political Talk realm, House 4Cubbies has long denied any formal vassalage to the mighty House LSU Pimp, despite overwhelming circumstantial evidence to the contrary. Court historians note that whenever a great question of philosophy, politics, economics, culture, cuisine, weather patterns, or college football arises, the banners of House 4Cubbies can often be seen fluttering dutifully into formation somewhere behind the standard of House LSU Pimp. Scholars have spent centuries debating whether this represents ideological alignment, intellectual admiration, or simply a highly evolved form of political imprinting. The prevailing theory among the maesters is that LSU Pimp is not merely an ally of House 4Cubbies, but rather its philosophical daddy, whose pronouncements are received not as arguments to be evaluated, but as wisdom to be faithfully transmitted to the realm.
Indeed, the great satire plays of PT tell of the ancient ritual known as “Checking with Pimp.” According to legend, whenever House 4Cubbies encounters a new issue, a raven is first dispatched to determine the official position of House LSU Pimp. Only after this sacred consultation may House 4Cubbies issue its own carefully considered opinion, which, by remarkable coincidence, often bears a striking resemblance to the original decree. Critics have unfairly characterized this relationship as one of obedience and imitation. Defenders of House 4Cubbies reject this slander, insisting that theirs is a relationship of complete intellectual independence, and that any resemblance to the views of their philosophical patriarch is purely coincidental, inevitable, and to be expected.

On SDV: * and a willingness to engage in wars of attrition that would exhaust lesser houses.
This is why I love his posts. I don't always agree but I love the steadfastness. That shite's important.
He's even better on the sports side. IMO, up there with The Boat.

Using the word "barbarians"? Unthinkable.
Higher rates of violent crime and fraud? Perfectly fine.

Always, my fealty, good Sir.
In the mythology of the Political Talk realm, House PsychTiger is one of the oldest and most enigmatic houses in the kingdom. Their ancestral seat, Mindkeep, sits atop a lonely hill surrounded by libraries, journal articles, and half-finished psychological profiles of everyone else in the realm. Their sigil is a purple tiger holding a mirror in one paw and a diagnostic manual in the other. Their words are: “Explain the Behavior.”
The great strength of House PsychTiger is its ability to transform any political disagreement, sporting event, family dispute, or restaurant review into a discussion of underlying motivations, attachment styles, personality structures, cognitive biases, childhood experiences, and defense mechanisms. According to the satirists of PT, a typical battle involving House PsychTiger begins with an opponent charging confidently into combat, only to discover three pages later that the real topic is no longer immigration policy or tax rates, but rather why the opponent’s unresolved psychological needs compelled them to take that position in the first place. Allies often seek the counsel of House PsychTiger for insight and perspective; enemies fear that, before the battle is over, they may inadvertently receive a free personality assessment. Even rival houses concede that while House PsychTiger may not always win the argument, it almost always succeeds in making everyone wonder why they were arguing in the first place.

In the wholly fictional, exaggerated, and deeply unfair chronicles of the Political Talk realm, House Rex occupies a unique and unfortunate position in the history books: that of the Great Fallen House. Once a proud banner house with ambitions of shaping the destiny of the kingdom, House Rex now resides in the crumbling fortress of Lastword Keep, where its remaining loyalists gather to insist that everything is proceeding according to plan. Their sigil is a magnificent golden lion staring into a broken mirror, and their ancient words are: “You Will Regret Doubting Us.”
The satirists of PT tell a tragic tale of House Rex’s decline. According to legend, the downfall began when the lords of House Rex became convinced that every disagreement represented not merely opposition, but a personal betrayal requiring a fourteen-paragraph response and three historical analogies. Great alliances fractured, bannermen wandered away, and rival houses began referring to the once-proud dynasty as “The Kingdom of Perpetual Grievance.” Today, travelers passing through the ruins of Lastword Keep report hearing the ghostly echoes of ancient proclamations beginning with, “As I have explained repeatedly…” Yet even their harshest critics concede one point: no house in the history of PT has ever fought harder, longer, or with greater conviction for the right to have the final word.
