They hope they win, they see all their liberal works being reversed by Republicans over the past few years. Seriously, this election has brought into focus for anyone to see who Democrats are. Conservatives are being portrayed as Americans, Dems are Marxist, first election of my lifetime of 48 years where Dems are not hiding. Let’s see where things go.

No it wouldn’t, that’s not the way they are trying to do it. They are doing it through the states, a lot of states are signing up for this compact linked below. If they ever get to 270, it’s over.
Basically the states are gonna award their EC votes to this pact based on the popular vote of the entire country. They can do this without an amendment.

No doubt about it. I appreciate the openness but what they’re proposing leads to a dictatorship. The fact that voters are willing to overlook that is scary.

Not sure that will happen, but we are definitely heading in the direction of some kind of splintering.
If Democrats win this election, they have the real possibility of effectively making the country a one party system at the federal level. I think the moderate democrats would eventually splinter with a much more docile Republican party that would have to go more moderate to merge the two groups when the AOCs of the D's take over the super party system.
