History will not remember Trump's booming economy and defense of the constitution. Instead, Trump will be the guy who let COVID kill thousands, allowed the capitol to be attacked and supported right wing white supremacy.

You remember those pictures of all the angry white people holding signs and harassing black kids during the early years of busing? All the antagonists of the civil rights era? That will be pretty much how people look back on people wearing MAGA hats in about 25 years. Trumpism will be a cringey and regrettable period of cultural regression akin to the “silent majority” years of the late 60’s-70’s. This won’t be an entirely fair assessment of the era but history isn’t written by the losers, as they say.

I think it's way too early to know the answer to the OP. There will be more events happening in coming years that will affect how Trump will be viewed by future historians. The history of the American founding wasn't written in 1773, it was decades later by the side that ultimately won.

I've said this before and I'll say it again:
any sane person with any writing ability needs to make a memoir of the Trump years.
do NOT let the leftists be the only ones writing.
do NOT sit back and let htem write. Write about Trump YOURSELF.
we know who he was and what he wanted to accomplish. we can be honest about his faults, and he had many.
but we can be honest and truthful about all the good that he did.
he deserves credit for this good, and unless we write our own histories, the Left will give his name an unfair smearing.
