it wont be put on hold. I figure in another week the dems will be really pushing for mail in voting. They want mail in votes over delayed elections.

Nah, Pelosi is devising a plan where you can vote by calling your local post office.

Dems will cancel remaining primaries. They'll broker their convention for Cuomo.

Pretty sure if no election is held by January 2021 then the speaker becomes President. So y'all probably don't want that to happen.

In theory Trump could circumvent and get state legislators to assign electoral votes to him without an election being held, but that would be an incredible assault on democracy in this country.

If things are still rough in the summer there's going to definitely be talks of moving the election

Honestly the Dems should reset the primary process and start over. It should be all about who is best equipped to navigate this situation.

Wouldn’t the electoral college have to vote first? Then the House gets to vote for President and Senate votes for Vice President.

To avoid the later couldn’t the state legislatures elect members of the electoral college with out a vote of the people.

Here is the process of electing president direct from the constitution. In the first paragraph is your answer. The state has the power to appoint electors, not the voters. So the states could theoretically just appoint electors by a change in the law, unless your state has it written in the state constitution which would need to be changed.

quote:

Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector. The Electors shall meet in their respective States, and vote by Ballot for two Persons, of whom one at least shall not be an Inhabitant of the same State with themselves. And they shall make a List of all the Persons voted for, and of the Number of Votes for each; which List they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the Seat of the Government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate. The President of the Senate shall, in the Presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the Certificates, and the Votes shall then be counted. The Person having the greatest Number of Votes shall be the President, if such Number be a Majority of the whole Number of Electors appointed; and if there be more than one who have such Majority, and have an equal Number of Votes, then the House of Representatives shall immediately chuse by Ballot one of them for President; and if no Person have a Majority, then from the five highest on the List the said House shall in like Manner chuse the President. But in chusing the President, the Votes shall be taken by States, the Representatives from each State having one Vote; a quorum for this Purpose shall consist of a Member or Members from two thirds of the States, and a Majority of all the States shall be necessary to a Choice. In every Case, after the Choice of the President, the Person having the greatest Number of Votes of the Electors shall be the Vice President. But if there should remain two or more who have equal Votes, the Senate shall chuse from them by Ballot the Vice-President. The Congress may determine the Time of chusing the Electors, and the Day on which they shall give their Votes; which Day shall be the same throughout the United States.

In theory, yes. Not a big fan of that option though.

Negative. They will make all votes mail in only. Every prominent Dem is already pushing this.

Trump won’t have rallies and enthusiasm if we did get to that point would be out the door. Dems control all the major big cities in any swing state. The amount of voter fraud would be horrific.

It’s slowly creeping to that possibility though.

It would be such a major failure if we are in this current state by summer. China in about 2 weeks will be back to normal along with their lies. Japan and SK will be just fine. We better damn well open everything up by May 1 if not our economy is toast if it isn’t already.

Zero chance Congress will postpone election. Trump cannot do it himself.

Most states will use vote by mail. That's how we all should be voting anyway.
