Is your wife now conservative? That's interesting if she was raised in an uber-liberal household.

NPR people are fricking hilarious.

Our family is mostly right, with a few pockets of slight left. As a general rule, and it might be an unpopular opinion here, we just avoid talking about politics.

The real issue is when we get heated talking about LSU football lol.

There are no lefties in my family. Most of my family is conservative. My grandparents are socially conservative, but are old school democrats. They generally don’t bring politics up much, but their TV stays on CNN/CBS most of the time. Thankfully, they don’t bring it up in conversation much. I have a couple of cousins that don’t like Trump, but they won’t cause a scene.

Not thanksgiving per se, but I have friends that are having a temper tantrum about the election, more specifically being mad/hurt about my vote.

When they got the idea that their worldview/fears/experiences superseded my own values I’ll never know.

They will either come to the realization that it is unreasonable to both assume and require another individual to subscribe to their orthodoxy and the friendship will be long term better. Or the friendship will be over and that will hurt and suck. But either way it works out life will be better in the long run.

I do not require the world to agree with me and expect the same consideration in return.

You should do a little better at culling this from your life.
