How many on this board are Democrats and what is your opinion of the Socialists?

I myself do not fear Socialism, I do fear Socialists. Few of their policies seem feasible. When they discuss their plans, they never mention investing tax revenue to improve the cities and citizens. Some of their program's sound like a repeat of the fraud in Minnesota and other states.

Sounds great. Doesn't work.

I don't think they're socialist. I think they're communist. And there's no such thing as a good communist.

They put walls around socialist countries to keep their serfs in economic bondage to Der Staat.
They are already trying to put economic walls towards the wealthy citizens of NY and Cali who want to flee the madness.
To hell with all marxists, fascists, socialists and communists.

Is this from Democratic Socialists of America or from Communist Party USA?
Humanity is faced with multiple, interlocking crises of capitalism, in which a shrinking capitalist class hoards the wealth that was produced by the vast working class in an inhumane and oppressive system of greed and exploitation. In the present we struggle to improve the lives of the whole of the working class, including the impoverished, in our country and around the globe. To solve the challenges facing humanity, we need to replace capitalism with socialism, a system of cooperation, democracy, and equality.
It's from CPUSA. These socialists are communists. The term "communist" isn't politically viable for them...yet, so they don't call themselves communists....yet.

I agree. Unfortunately, I can't say what the correct course of action is.

Chuck Schumer is up for reelection in 2028 and I think he is scared to death.

It's all idle talk and theory until you talk to someone who has lived it.
Make it a point to seek out someone who was there for the fall of Cuba, Venezuela or any of the other failed Socialist experiments. I have a friend from Venezuela who managed to get out with her family and one suitcase. Once you talk to someone like that, it will change any charitable thoughts you may be having towards one of these types of government. It's scary as hell and she swears it all started with stuff like is happening in this country right now.

Does not make a tiny dent in Leftists' minds.

I would consider myself a democrat now. Have voted Republican in the past but not anymore since maga took off.
I think the word socialist and socialism has kind of lost all meaning with how the right tries to weaponize it. I think a better discussion would be to talk about socialist programs and if we are for or against those.
I think healthcare has gotten so out of control in this country I would like to see medicare expanded. By all accounts it would cost less than we currently pay(when including what companies and people pay in premiums and actual costs) by a good amount. I think most people don't even realize how expensive premiums are because businesses cover up the expense by paying a large portion of it.
There are plenty of socialist programs I don't agree with as well. I don't think we should tax billionaires at 100%, but would like to see another tier of the tax system at very high levels.

They’re the same. Scum of the Earth. No one wants to be around them, work with them, or be friends with them.

Fear? No. Communism and Socialism have been around for a long time. Folks that feel they are oppressed in America start to think a different economic agenda is necessary. I say frick you go find another strip of land!

(Especially since you followed that comment with, “I think the word socialist and socialism has kind of lost all meaning with how the right tries to weaponize it.”)

Thanks for the reply, Tigers.
Medicare is broke. Unfunded liabilities through the roof. Healthcare here is expensive because of cost shifting (because of medicaid, medicare, and them ungodly mountains of red tape piled on by government) and because of how fat and unhealthy Americans are.
Mamdani flat out said that his end goal is to seize the means of production. Mamdani is the darling of the Left. Is seizing the means of production now not considered socialism?
Last question; Why is it your belief that the government doesn't rake in enough money already? DeSantis has lowered spending 4 straight years and is now going to abolish property taxes for a lot of homeowners here in Florida. NY state's government spends TWICE as much as Florida, yet has 3 million FEWER people. So again, why do you think any government needs to rip taxpayers off even more?

They dont give a shite. Their whole mindset is to drag everybody down to them. If a legal Ecuadorian built a business that was successful those useless fricks would hate them too. Lazy people hate successful people. Its as simple as that.

Many socialist policies have been feasible within the US Government for decades and continue to enjoy bipartisan support today.
I really don't understand why so many people on this board think that socialists are exclusively democrats. Trump himself was touting this $12B payment to ease the impacts of the tariffs, with an additional 11B on the way from Congress. Bank bailouts, airline bailouts, crop subsidies...all socialist concepts that have the support of Republicans. They may hold their noses when they do it, but they do it all the same. We can debate the concept of "well what choice do they have? Do you want the banks, airlines, farmers, etc to go under?" No, I don't. But putting the government finger on the scale when a free-market economy fails a certain industry is more socialist than not.
