Just watched a segment on fox news. If the internet and the power grid were taken out how long before cities start going crazy? I would imagine majority of americans dont keep a good bit of cash on hand or food. Take out debit/credit machines in stores and atm machines and chaos would erupt very very quickly.

Wouldn't happen. It would be a massive undertaking on the scale of a nation-state to do it. And we've already said we would respond with nukes. Russia and China don't want none of that.

I’m good on guns, ammo, and food. I don’t keep cash around but I need to start doing so.

Well, "prepared" covers a lot of territory. Read the Book "One Second After" if you want to imagine just what a prolonged Grid outage would look like...and if you can afford little sleep for the next couple of weeks.

We don't seem to have learned a damn thing from 9/11. We, and the rest of the world for that matter, are obsessed with consumerism with no thought to the consequences of suddenly being without our conveniences.

I used to teach emergency preparedness and the disinterest I saw was based upon the idea that the government would always come to the rescue. Even when I talked about rowboat economics or YOYO (you're on your own) scenarios I would get eyes-glazed-over stares. It was very frustrating.

I've enough food and water stored for 5 years. We've a couple shacks hidden away in the Appalachian mountains, with more food and water stored, along with plenty of guns for hunting food.

If this happens, I hope the lights go out for at least a year.
The democrats in the cities will have to come to the countryside for water. Most cities don’t have enough fresh water. For the residents of big blue cities that have rivers running through them, they will still need food.
They won’t be able to stay in the cities due to the lack of sanitation. The urine and fences will run them out.
Once they start pouring into the countryside, they will be easily “ Taken Care Of “
Then we won’t have a progressive democrat problem anymore.

I live in NYC. It would become Tom Clancy's The Division over here.

I'm well stocked on food and ammo. Used to have back up battery system but it only held up for about 3 years. Have a well stocked pond, but I'm not going to block or shoot neighbors who need to get fish.

Thankfully, Texas has its own grid.
(to avoid dealing with FedGov)
So unless some rabble-rousers were specifically targeting TX, we good.
