How do you think DOGE knew to target USAID?

I’m sure someone has mentioned it, but it’s a thought that just came to me after so much money has been discovered being dumped into the laps of all these media companies.
My working theory is that when Elon took over Twitter and his engineers & lawyers did a deep dive on the financials, they discovered the tangled web of fraudulent government funding - and the rabbit hole opened wide.
Thoughts?

I think Trump and his closest confidants already knew where the bodies were buried due to his first term in power. Now he's doing something about it after 4 years of planning.

I had that thought myself. I bet the Twitter books were full of USAID funding links before he took over. The twitter books and twitter files gave him the roadmap

Musk said they just looked to see who were not following Trumps new EO's and it took them straight to USAid. One quick glance and it was off to the races.
I am not sure they knew it would be the honey hole it turned out to be but USAid scandal has legitimized the need to look everywhere for waste, if not outright theft/crime.

Probably not the most best hidden secret, but important enough for all to keep it on the downlow. Probably came to light in the first term, and Trump kept it in his back pocket. Like he is known to be good at doing.
They came after him hard, and now he's going for the jugular. I'm sure the full extent of a lot of things werent truly known known, but digging just uncovered things.
Though lots of this was already known. Spoken about for years. Just swept under the rug as being crazy CTs. Just took someone willing to lift up the rug to clean under it for once. that's where we are now.
