Tony Robbins recently summarized our current political theater to a T.

The divisiveness we have today is coming from a Me first attitude versus a We first attitude. In business, you can't be successful this way...

why do politicians think they can be successful being so narrow minded?

It's all about being re-elected and raising funds...

then just blame the entire time they are "serving".

It's maddening listening to the evening news...

attack attack , spin, spin, opinion, argue, opinion...

over and over we go....going nowhere...

It's no longer about the customer, it's about using the customer for personal interest.

how do we change this?

It requires some type of external threat that is greater than what's going on internally.

Liberals have to abandon their shitty policies that are irreconcilable with a functioning nation

People have to stop putting large groups of people into ill-defined and inaccurate boxes and then reacting to that. On both sides, but mostly the left though.

This has been going on forever. If he has the answer then get it done.

Believe it or not, this ain't about trump. The parties are about the parties no matter the who is in the white house.

Very frustrating that folks are just playing to get reelected.

Nope.

It's an impossibility for it to stop being us vs them when one side has no redeeming qualities.

Why is that more desirable than the current state? When, in recent memory was it more of a “we” culture?

You really think it can be changed?
How?

This is a country that proclaims its strengths are its differences.

I hear people talk about finding common ground, but explain to me how that is possible in a world filled with so many positions that sit in direct opposition.

Can we agree on government’s role in the lives of individuals?

Can we agree on the sovereignty of the individual ? The country?

Can we agree on borders? Security? Immigration?

Can we agree on morality? God? Which God? No God?

The media is now a propaganda machine and the education system is an indoctrination system.

Tell me how we find common ground?

People that preach this kinda stuff aren’t looking closely at the issues.
Some issues have no common ground.

Restore power back to the states. That will allow people to move and live in areas with more like minded people. Voters in Texas won't influence policy in California nearly as much , and vice versa. It won't be perfect, but it would be a lot better.

Get rid of all 24 hour news channels and “news” websites that rely on people being pissed off so they can get ratings or clicks. Go back to getting the news from 5:00-6:00 national evening news and 30 minute local newscast. The 24/7 media is the biggest culprit of creating our current political climate with their opinion panels and shite reporting.

Progressivism, or 21st Century Marxism, is intentionally divisive by nature, and sustains itself by keeping American culture in a constant state of agitation.

Relevant

-Quit being so confident about your position till you try to understand the other.

-Question someone's judgement but use extreme caution before doubting their motive.

I disagree because if there WERE some "external threat" there would be some Leftists who would seek to ASSIST the external threat in return for some political gain after the "external threat's" plans are realized.

Buddy it is the voters that are like this.

There is unbelievable anger among the right wing regarding welfare payments, I mean, total FURY from these people.

There is unbelievanle anger among the left wing about gun issues, abortion and immigration, totally fury.

Unless these folks (left and right) take a deep breath, nothing is going to change.

And I don't think anything is going to change because the media (for ratings purposes) builds the conflict up.

There is a radio and tv talk show consultant that I am friends with who flat out says to his clients, don't be retarded, just slam the other side, no-one cares and you will be able to sell to Proctor and Gambl better that way.

And on we go.
