So you wholeheartedly support President Trump's decision to bomb ISIS convoys to smithereens while they retreat, and think Obama's policy of allowing them to scurry off and regroup was wrongheaded?

That is SO good to know!

They raise their hand and swear to protect the CONSTITUTION against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Convenient that you omitted that part. Again, the oath that the military takes is specifically designed to prevent them from supporting a tyrannical government. It’s almost like that was a trend in our constitution.

the right: local police need to be militarized so they can fight highly armed gangs and stuff

I’ve never seen the right leaners on this board support that. It’s actually the opposite.

Some history on this topic because it is pretty interesting to me at least

It wasn't until 2008 that an official ruling on interpretation by the Supreme Court was made in the Heller case. Before that, the private right of gun ownership was not officially supported by SCOTUS who ultimately gets to decide the interpretation

The interpretation of a personal right of citizens was only popularized in in the 60s initially by the Black Panther party.

The NRA only started making private gun ownership rights a priority after members of the organization decided to pull a coup at the national convention

So based on that logic, Americans should be able to purchase all military grade firearms, including fully automatic stuff?

There we go....so much for educated discourse. If you lay awake at night thinking about some of these 'scenarios', I feel for you.. I retired from the Marine Corps in 2011, after 24 years. Thanks.

Seriously man. I’m sitting here wondering if this guy has ever been outside or not. I know people who can literally survive for 3 years with a flint fire starter, a lifestraw and metal canteen to boil water, a hatchet, a knife, and a .308 AR platform with 5 mags reserved for hunting. I mean we are designed to live outdoors. We’re not made of fricking glass

You guys have are crazy and oddly enough you think I am the oddball.

You want to know what the average American is like>

His name is John Smith. He works for the Post Office and make 55k a year delivering the mail. His wife Diane make 35k a year working four days a week a receptionist for the city dermatologist Doctor Bradley. Both wish they had achieved more in life but are more or less satisfied with what they have. They work as ushers at the Lutheran Church and John (the mailmn) coaches basketball for the local high school for fre.

Their 16 year old daughter is a B minus student and hope she will score good on the ACT to get into Iowa State and become a Cyclone! She has heard that is where the cuter boys go.

Their 13 year old son like baseball and is a good pitcher.

And that is America.

Youn are utterly crazy if you think these people will be killing American soldiers or police officers to start some kind of pro-gun anti-government resistance movement.

You are the person who needs to go out more fellah. Go to your local church on a Sunday and look around and think "okay, who will fight the federales with me".

If the federal government decides the constitution is moot and that they will confiscate guns from law abiding citizens there will be blood in the streets. Thinking otherwise is pure ignorance.

Good thing they have strict gun laws in China or they could have had a mass killing on they're hands.

Disagree on citizens rights to be as armed as our professional standing forces.
But s4tates and States miltias have a right to store and train it's citizens with all the tools democracy allows.

On a serious note, who in the frick are you to decide what the average American looks like? The “average” Afghan probably doesn’t look like a fighting aged male but lo and behold...there are enough of them to form a small army. Why don’t you go out to your local gun range, hang out for an hour and look around, and then realize that there are several thousand ranges in the US and you just looked at a very small sample of a single one’s clientele. Again, your logic just isn’t sound at all in the big picture given the nature of human beings and how they’ve consistently behaved, century after century, when given governmental power
