Was raised and taught to always value personal liberty above all else

I keep those values today

By seeing corruption and distrust from an early age on every level of politics. Have never voted in any election. Both sides are stupid.

Civics class with a sensible explanation of Liberalism vs Conservative ideology. I chose the "Right Way"...

Started out conservative/Republican because that's what my parents were. I became increasingly disenchanted with how authoritarian both sides of American politics are. Decided that people should be left alone as long as they weren't hurting anyone, so I began branding myself as "fiscally conservative but socially liberal". A few years later, I figured out that what I was was libertarian with the NAP as a foundation.

I was fairly liberal in a lot of way until this latest progressive nonsense took over, now I just look at Democrats and think "what retards, that's not for me"

I feel I am the only one who switched....

Of course I do not believe in God
Yet I believe in capitalism
I do not believe in paying for other people
Yet I believe in helping out elderly/injured

Loved Clinton being too young to know any better. Thought GW was awesome until I figured that out 2004ish.

Since no one has claimed it yet, I'll say Ron Paul's campaign in 2008. Hadn't heard that much truth before and it made me realize how full of shite the rest of them are.

I never cared about politics until the Iraq war. I said since day 1 how ill founded and evil it was but I was labeled a terrorist if I voiced my opinion.
My main complaint about Bush: he mired us in an endless war in the middle east that will never end and one day bankrupt us, while costing countless lives.
People's main complaint about Obama: He wants healthcare for everyone and his wife wants our school children to eat healthier.

Step back and think about which side you are on.

And now we have Trump thanks to people's true feelings about a black president come out.

It's pretty simple.

Edit: FWIW the only money I ever received from the government was on a tax return or when I served in the military.

Grew up in a rowdy home of republicans, not conservatives.

Went to college.. had hippy phase... got real job in real world.. lived through 2016 election. Economic nationalist and conservative now. A realist.

I have a thinkin' brain that tells me to ignore both major parties and to listen to the message of the individual candidate.

If you're not a liberal at 25, you have no heart. If you are a liberal at 35 you have no brain.

That quote, from whoever, is spot on. If you make decisions on pure emotion then liberal, progressive, leftist philosophy is for you. If you think logically and are rational you cannot be a Democrat.
