re: How can we trust autism statistics after seeing how much fraud there is?

Are you upset you don’t bring in more from the government? The fact that autism is 2x more diagnosed with Medicaid with Autism centers showing up in poverty areas correlates that there is fraud.

Sorry Dr Seuss but it’s still 160 bil each year for children’s Medicaid with 5% having autism vs 2% non Medicaid private insurance having autism.
Yeah because doctors love to lose money on medicaid patients vs making money or atleast breaking even with private insurance. If doctors were trying to game the system wouldn’t it make more sense for them to be over diagnosing private insurance patients?

There has been a debate for years about why the number of kids with autism has skyrocketed, but after seeing what is going on in Minnesota, and likely other states, how can we even remotely believe the numbers?
The arguments have been:
1. There are actually more cases of autism
2. It is diagnosed more, because we pay closer attention and have more data, but it hasn't actually increased
But now there is a third option:
3. The increased cases are completely fake to milk the government out of money
Hot fricking dog!!!!!!!!!

I think anectdotal evidence suggests that there is more autism. By anecdotal, I mean that most of us probably see this.
My sister has been a school nurse for 30 years and she says there are a lot more kids with serious issues than their used to be.

Even when I have found evidence of someone malingering PTSD the Veteran won't have their disability money taken away.
So once they are granted full or partial disability, it’s set for liife?
What about someone that’s only been in the military for 1.5 years but diagnosed with a non-service related condition?

You can’t. If you ever meet and listen to a disability/immigration lawyer talk with a client you will be disgusted.
They coach these people on how to defraud the taxpayers.

100% and most of them have a translator paid for by tax payers while they can’t speak a lick of English.

This is part of it, but also we've expanded what we call "autism." Aspergers used to be separate diagnosis, for example.

Yes, if your child has autism, you can potentially claim disability benefits from the U.S. Social Security Administration (SSA), primarily through the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program for children, and sometimes through Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) if you (the parent) have worked and paid into Social Security, as autism is recognized as a disability

Just to be clear...who is faking the diagnosis? And are they the same people getting money from the government for these fake diagnoses?
Different people in different situations.
But in the Minnesota example, it appears they are setting up autism centers that receive federal funding. They are then getting doctors to provide a bunch of fake diagnoses to generate enrollees in their autism centers, likely paying off the parents to provide the kids. In some cases, the kids may not even exist.

Lemy,
You are correct, when we went to a "spectrum" of autism and stated the "6 second rule". If it takes that long for a person to respond to you, they probably have autism.
Quick, can someone tell me where to sign up. My wife can definitely verify I dont answer her for days sometimes
FFS the state of Indiana in 2017 spent 21 million on Autism, in 2023...611 million, AUFKidding Me?

You can’t trust them. Psychology and psychiatry are overwhelmingly liberal professions that Democrats will at some point weaponize. The ones I know personally are not exactly honest people. They are in on the grift. This is a manufactured crisis to steal your money.

I will never donate another single thing to anything again in my life. I don't even fricking care if it's a round up at Firehouse Subs. I no longer trust anyone or anything who asks for money

Do you have any evidence for this, or are you just making shite up?

The part of my comment that you did not quote says "it appears"
They have fraudulent autism centers. There is fraud going on with regards to autism, the related care and/or the diagnosis of it.
I'm happy to hear your theory of how any of this works without fake diagnoses.
Milking the government doesn't work if the claims are legit.

They have been doing this with ADD and ADHD for a while.

If a kid can get an IEP assigned to them you have a solid chance if on the system to get more money alloted.
Grandparents can adopt their grandchildren and get an iep and get additional SS funds.

Doctors are majorly at fault with this stuff too. It gives them a consistent patient thru Medicaid
Doctors typically give the diagnosis and not much else. A vast majority of autism treatment is handled by various types of therapists.
