If done seeking “likes” yes exactly like posting on a message board. Now if you were attempting to make the claim I’m seeking validation by discussing this with you lmaooooooo
I'm really just pointing out that as much as posters here try to prove their superiority to various groups and subgroups, humans all share the same basic needs and desires.

how and why did we get to a point where we watch a video of someone sitting at a desk watching another video, drinking coffee, and talking about the video he is watching?
Maybe someone can do another hour reaction video of the reaction video of the commentary
What an opinion!! Wow!
So enlightening!
So, listening to other folks thoughts and opinions is something to be avoided?
You should write a book and share your plan......

People are searching for meaning and purpose.
That’s a characteristic as old as humanity itself. Cop out BS answer for this question.
“In my search for meaning and purpose, I’m finding that men can be women if they want, there should be no constraints on immigration, and simply by being minorities, people are more qualified for jobs. Yes, the meaning of life.”

1990's. Woke ideology started out as "political correctness".
Remember people telling other people their words were wrong? I do.

Not at all. It's really the only logical answer, which is possibly why you're rejecting it. It doesn't really appeal to emotion.

This is emotional drivel.

“Woke”has lately been defined as anything not onboard with MAGA. It’s an absolutely meaningless term…

Nah, wokeism itself is nothing more than emotional drivel, as evidenced by you calling examples of woke nonsense exactly that yourself.

There's also the BlackRock/Larry Fink/DEI score element here as well, but that doesn't fully explain why it emotionally resonated with so many people.
Because it's fed to the youth.
The same people that go through the whole I'll do whatever I want, whenever I want, and however I want phases.
The same ones who don't know enough to know it's a lie. And they turn the kids against their parents, so they don't believe them when they try to teach them the truth.
It's a very old trick that works
Gangs have been doing it for decades. Anarchist groups grab them young too. In the middle east they do it from birth.

Department of Education put public education under the firm control of anti-American and anti-Western Civilization teachers unions. Once indoctrinated kids got to college, they had well-established anti-American, anti-capitalist and racist (anti-white) professors eagerly waiting to continue their "education". All the while, the Democrat party (through their willing media accomplices) is beating the drum of how terrible the US is and has been, culminating with Obama and ubiquitous social media.
I think these are valid points but while it addresses things specifically here in the U.S. it does not really explain the same hive minded, self-destructive force that is held among ruling governments throughout most all Western nations.
Western Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand are all under the grip of this….madness.

What people refer to as woke goes well beyond the initial intent of the "stay woke" movement.
What was this original meaning of it?
The new meaning seems to work perfectly.
The original term was coined by one of the black equality leaders. Too tired, I want to say MLK, but I could be wrong about that.
Anyway, the message then was "Wake up". Or "Woken up". But had the completely opposite intent as the ideology that white academics have turned the ideology into now. It was intended to be peaceful, and co-exist ideology. Progressives turned itnto something angry and hateful.

The education system, media and professional fields all fell under control of the left starting back in the anti-Vietnam war movement that swept college campuses. The radicalized liberal arts, law, journalism, communications and soft sciences fell most deeply to leftism. As the feeder sources to industries with great influence, their radicalized college graduates ultimately inherited control over their fields.
Add to that the simple fact that leftists only hire other leftists and actively suppress anyone else and we get our current state of loony wokeness. Colleges and educrats were the first to go "politically correct" and into the depths of wokeness to produce the second and third generation of the loony left.

Have not read through the thread but by and large we are a nation of duped sheep who will believe anything professors, entertainers and news people tell them without employing any critical thinking. Probably half the nation believe Netflix characters accurately depict Americans

Where did that poster say it was the left who coined the term? All he was saying is you had the same progressive stuff going on in the 90's but it was called political correctness. That wasn't really hard to understand what he was saying

Woke idealogy. It's a product of the progressive left. For decades people have been warning of how dangerous the progressives and liberals are.
Woke ideology makes no sense. And it's not meant to. It's not meant to be concrete, because with definition it becomes less fluid.
Progressive idealogy is a war tactic. It's outlined by Sun Tzu in The Art of War as a Social Engineering Attack.. It's a method to turn one side of a population against another side.
It's a system that has been perfected by the Russians, and the US. It's referred to Taking over a country without firing a shot.. Both countries have used it with devastating results.
The more fluid and undefined it is, the easier it is to radicalize.
And in case people aren't paying attention, it's getting pretty damn radical.
Great post.

Nope. It was the left that coopted the term from the blacks.
It wasn't until the woke idealogy started turning into a cult that the right started using the term against the progressives.
