Correct, these idiots are simply putting on a show for their constitutionally ignorant base.
As the post I quoted states, this requires a constitutional amendment. 2/3 vote from both chambers and 3/4 of the state’s vote.
Ain’t gonna happen, period
another dividing issue in the making.

Statehood would require an amendment to the constitution, not a chance.
I believe they are trying to get around this by still having the federal district as called for in the Constitution, just cutting area out of it to be the 51st state.

When the Senate flips, Chuckie will pass it.

Sure, If Northern California can become it's own state along with Eastern Oregon and Washington becoming their own state aswell.

Adding a new state at this point would be bullshite for a number of reasons but mainly because 50 is such a perfect number
It would screw up the flag but we all know liberals would rather burn the flag anyways

Heard on Fox that dems want it to be renamed after Frederick Douglass.

I assure you if Washington DC were to vote Republican, this wouldn’t be happening.

I’m in favor of buying out all residents and allowing them to relocate. Even if we have to overpay.

Just another worthless day in Nancy Pelosi's house. Good to see that they are solving the nation's issues.

It can't happen
D.C is already made up from other States.

The Constitution grants general state-creation powers to Congress in Article IV, Section 3, under the Admissions Clause, which reads: “New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new State shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or Parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress.”

Makes more sense to break up California into multiple states.

So, a State with a symbolic government ultimately, since Congress would control every aspect of that State. Mite b cool.

So if any one political power controlled house, senate, and executive, could they move the Seat of the government to a State or Multiple States elsewhere in the country?

There is a reason DC isn’t a state. It’s the federal capital. Federal rights and laws are different than state rights and laws. It was always meant to be seperate. The voting body that comes out of DC is the President and the Vice President. These Jackholes are trying to subvert that.
