If tweet fails to load, click here. Here is 10 ways the “Big Beautiful Bill” helps middle class America:
1. Permanently Extends Lower Income Tax Rates
•Benefit: The 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act’s reduced income tax brackets were set to expire in 2025. This bill makes them permanent, keeping more take-home pay in workers’ pockets.
2. Expands the Standard Deduction
•Benefit: The standard deduction—already doubled under TCJA—is extended and temporarily boosted by $1,500 for singles and $1,000 for heads of household, reducing taxable income and simplifying filing for millions.
3. Increases the Child Tax Credit
•Benefit: The bill raises the child tax credit to $2,500 per child through 2028, easing the cost of raising children. It also adjusts for inflation after that period.
4. Makes Overtime Pay Tax-Free
•Benefit: Workers who earn overtime can deduct that income from their taxable earnings, recognizing and rewarding hard work—especially for blue-collar and hourly workers.
5. Makes Tipped Income Tax-Free (Under Certain Conditions)
•Benefit: Service workers in customary tipping occupations can deduct their tips from taxable income. This helps waiters, bartenders, hairdressers, and other gig/hospitality workers keep more of what they earn.
6. Expands the Saver’s Credit for ABLE Accounts
•Benefit: Middle-class families supporting disabled dependents can now claim the retirement saver’s credit for contributions to ABLE accounts, making it easier to plan for long-term care.
7. Enhances Deductions for Seniors
•Benefit: Seniors 65+ get an extra $4,000 deduction through 2028, phasing out at higher incomes. It eases the tax burden for retirees living on fixed incomes.
8. Protects Education Support
•Benefit: Keeps student loan forgiveness for death or disability tax-free, ensuring families aren’t burdened with IRS bills during tragedy.
9. Expands Earned Income Eligibility
•Benefit: By recognizing new forms of income (like certain religious community earnings and previously excluded tip income), more working families can qualify for refundable credits.
10. Encourages Work, Not Welfare
•Benefit: The bill’s framework rewards active earners and small business owners while simplifying tax compliance. By supporting work through deductions and credits, it reduces dependency and promotes upward mobility.

No tax on SS is in the BBB. It is a tax deduction for seniors

I am impressed with Speaker Johnson's effort in getting this pile of crap thru the meat grinder.
HOPEFULLY we could get a more competent congress in the mid terms and begin to cut out a lot of the bullshite built up over the decades which has all but rendered the whole congress nothing more than a testing ground for campaign speeches.
Hat's off to Mike.

Lots of disappointment in this bill.
From the tax perspective there isn’t a lot to be excited about. While I’m happy they are making the rates and higher std deduction permanent, they are making lots of things permanent that are not inflation adjusted, and I don’t see many changes making things inflation adjusted that have been set for decades.
I’m honestly shocked that I’m not seeing 100% depreciation in here.

Seniors are getting a $4,000 income tax break. As a senior under the $75,000 a year threshold, I'm thrilled.

I thought the overtime tax wasn’t in this bill? Also, what exactly does this mean? Will no taxes be taken out of peoples checks for any overtime?

Never understood the aversion to new posters. Are we just supposed to spam posts until we hit a certain number or wait a year until we post on the political board?
Yes, bring value by lurking before bombarding the board with stupid shite out the gate.

ypu have to be a stupid MFer to believe those 2030 cuts will happen.
so trump continues to spend like a drunken sailor for the length of his term, and then leaves it for someone else to do the heavy lifting and make cuts
that's so maga

Free beer tomorrow. It will never happen.

Johnson seems confident. If he manages to pull this off, he will establish himself as a real force on the Hill.
He was called a RINO here during Biden's 4 years. But he had no real power during Biden. Now that Trump is president I think a lot of posters here have changed their minds about Johnson.
