Moral vanity. No more, no less. They are just better human beings, more principled, heroes of their own narratives, bold, courageous, indispensable-and you need to know that, Mr Man!

Once it was known (during this voting round) that JJ lost, the others who followed and didn’t vote JJ just threw out random names.

Its politics. They hope a sidebar discussion gets them something for a vote in following rounds.

McCarthy lied and made too many promises to get enough votes. He basically then sided with Dems on major topics and sold our country out and lied about his promises - good riddance!. We had control of purse strings and he gave that away. So here we are.

After some losing rounds the holdouts will ask for their things and as pols they will all negotiate and eventually JJ will win it. The trick is how much does he have to give up to win. He doesn’t need all of them but does need all but 3.

Scalise should have taken it to the floor. Thats on him and the path he chose, and thats fine. You have to put people on record with a vote. Thats how you get so said vote changed.

Jordan took it to the floor for a vote. Jordan is putting people on record...two of those being McCarthy and Scalise, who voted for Jordan.

If it never goes to the floor, then it might as well have never happened. Its all here say.

Every single Democrat voted in sync. Rpublicans have idiots voting for people that dont even want the SOH possition

That's not what this is. This is an ideological battle playing out.

It's not "dysfunction." It's how we are SUPPOSED TO function.

We've basically reached a point where the GOP has split into two parties, they just haven't made it official yet.

In countries that have more than two parties and no party has a majority, you have a coalition government.

Those are put together behind closed doors and when it's time, a united front is put together in public.

That's how it is SUPPOSED TO function. Not this chinese fire drill crap.

People that didn’t vote for Jordan will approach the rest of the GOP/Jordan for appointments, more money, campaign funds, etc. This will go on until they each get enough to vote yah

Scalise was trying to spare even more disfunction and drama.

As someone who lives in his district, I do wish he would have taken it to the floor and put everyone on record.

But I understand why he decided to take the high road.

I wouldn’t say that. Once it was known he lost the vote the rest continue to vote. Some likely said random names so they can get some pork thrown their way on revotes. Its pure politics.

Unlike Democrats, Republicans refuse to stick together. Even if not all Dems agree on every issue, they always vote like they do. Every time.

If AOC were up for speaker, 100% of Dems would vote for her, even if many didn't like her. Republicans just refuse to operate the way Dems do, which is why Dems constantly destroy them and get what they want.
