Now we know why this IG report is delayed from a May or June release that Barr said orginally. Barr is going to have to do another spin job to make this IG report look good for Trump.
quote:
Christopher Steele, the former British spy behind the infamous “dossier” on President Donald Trump’s ties to Russia, was interviewed for 16 hours in June by the Justice Department’s internal watchdog, according to two people familiar with the matter.
The interview is part of an ongoing investigation that the Justice Department’s inspector general, Michael Horowitz, has been conducting for the past year. Specifically, Horowitz has been examining the FBI’s efforts to surveil a one-time Trump campaign adviser based in part on information from Steele, an ex-British MI6 agent who had worked with the bureau as a confidential source since 2010.
quote:
The interview was contentious at first, the sources added, but investigators ultimately found Steele’s testimony credible and even surprising. The takeaway has irked some U.S. officials interviewed as part of the probe — they argue that it shouldn’t have taken a foreign national to convince the inspector general that the FBI acted properly in 2016.
quote:
But the extensive interview with Steele, and the investigators’ sense that he offered new and important information, may dampen expectations among the president’s allies who’ve claimed that Steele’s sensational dossier was used improperly by the bureau to “spy” on the campaign.

I thought it was blatantly admitted that he got all his most pertinent info from a guy who ran a misinformation operation out of the Kremlin.

Yup. Barr is busy rewriting now. Or he will just bury the report.

That was not the issue
The issue was whether the fbi misled the fisa court by not disclosing key info
“Credible” is an absolutely useless word here. And you know it. You are gaslighting the board

Right. Carter Page was a Russian spy, yet he was never charged by Honest Bob or anyone else.

The war is over, Dickus.

It was. OP, like the author, is trying to make the insane leap that because investigators found Steele was being honest in his questioning, the dossier must have been real after all. Steel, himself, admitted long ago that the dossier wasn't real intelligence.

Are we back on the idea that the FBI didn't identify the source of the info?
They said it was paid for by a law firm associated with Trump's competition.

The sources don't know what Steele even said. Quite a leap.

They have to swear on the FISA application that the info was vetted and trustworthy. It wasn't, they knew it wasn't, yet they signed off that it was. That's the crux of the argument.

Against what standard? How are you so sure it didn't meet a pre-determined standard?
If said pre-determined standard is so low, why did the GOP vote to re-authorize the FISA process without changes even after all of this was known?

You are gaslighting the board
Why does it matter at this point that they found him “credible”?
The dossier has largely been proven to be inaccurate, and the issue is whether the fbi misled the FISA court
The fact remains they failed to verify it.

I'm pretty sure Comey, Clapper, or Brennan admitted that they didn't follow normal standard protocol for vetting info and sources.

The same GOP that resented Trump for blowing up their little nest they've feathered? I wonder why.

Just making sure I understand, you’re saying its ok to get dirt from foreigners now?
