They are going to have paltry few legislative successes, if any, so they won't be running on their record.

Any voter who hasn't had their head in the sand for 4 years wouldn't trust the GOPe as far as they could throw them if they promise the same old "lower taxes, repeal Obamacare" bullshite that they will have just failed at.

Does that just leave the obvious losers of "More of the same" or "We're not Democrats"? I'm really struggling to see the platform here.

I have a feeling the Dems are going to run on everything the GOPe has failed to do; it'll be a lot of "fix Obamacare" (they won't) and infrastructure (how fricking stupid is the GOP for not taking care of this by last April? - would have given some members cover for O'care or tax reform votes).

They'll do the same thing they always do to stir up their moron voters by inciting fear.

Fear of their taxes going to people just sitting on their couch. Fear of Mexicans taking their jobs and breaking into their homes. Fear of black neighborhoods in Chicago. Fear of Arabs coming in and cutting everyone's head off while tied to a nuclear bomb.

After they rile them all up in fear they'll convince them somehow that rich people shouldn't pay taxes and corporations shouldnt be regulated. The military industrial complex is good people protesting is bad.

They will even throw a couple of Bones out there for their voters like pretending they're Christian or really giving a shite about abortion

Feel like that sums it up pretty well

Sean Spicer’s “joke” about how the unemployment metrics were fake under Obama and real under Trump was really everything you needed to evaluate how seriously the administration takes facts and numbers.

Typical GOPer, sucking off the teat of the rich blue states. Too lazy to build up their own economies by pulling themselves up by their boots... ah you know the rest.

First off, states do not vote. People within states vote.

Nationally, it is a fact that people who rely on government programs or are in poverty are more likely to vote democratic, while people with higher incomes are more likely to be republican. It has been that way for a long time.

Secondly, while blue states might be richer on average than red states, it is also true that within most states, the wealthier areas are more republican and the poorest areas are democratic.

Look at Louisiana.

The GOP can simply run on the fact they are side being shot at by the crazy Dem supporters.

Boom! Instant win!

Good. That is a selling point for me. Why do we constantly want people passing more and more shite?

GOP '18 "We didn't wreck more stuff." Sounds good to me.

The GOP is dying. The stand for almost nothing. Their fiscal policies are wildly unpopular, and social conservatism is only going to get you so far and that is dwindling too. The two party system is going to shift to a party in line with centrist democrats(me), and the progressives. Just my opinion.

Ridiculous. No party is ever "dead". Did republicans die after dems won 5 straight elections from 1932-1952? Did democrats die after they got shellacked in 3 straight elections from 1980-1988?

Your post is totally factually incorrect, btw. The GOP has been nothing but ascendant since 2008. Dude, the GOP owns 39/50 state legislatures, most governor mansions, the senate, the house, and the presidency. Based on seats held, the party is the most powerful it has been since 1920.

Social conservatism is never going to "die". There will always be two sides to every issue. Social conservatism is not an ideology. It refers to belief in traditional structures and customs of society.

It would have been difficult to argue against your point in 2009, but over one thousand lost democrat political seats across the country since then says otherwise. The GOP has 34 governorships, most state legislatures, the House, the Senate and the Executive branch. The progressives are killing the democrat party. If you're a centrist you have to see your influence waning amongst the party bosses. Whether you realize it or not, Trump was the country's slap down of progressives, especially in areas where centrist Dems usually fared well. It's the Dems who are on their heals, but if history is a guide, they should gain a bit during Trump's terms as that's what typically happens.

It is probably pretty early to say it is dying, but let's revisit this in 2021. The party name will probably remain, but it will have had to shift left to survive.

I think that has a lot to do with complacency on the left. The Trump win removed that complacency. I listen to some really good liberal podcast(I know y'all think that's an oxymoron) and contrary to what you guys here may believe, the left is doing some soul searching. We are also mobilizing like mother frickers.
