Honest question: what the hell is the GOP going to run on next year?

They are going to have paltry few legislative successes, if any, so they won't be running on their record.
Any voter who hasn't had their head in the sand for 4 years wouldn't trust the GOPe as far as they could throw them if they promise the same old "lower taxes, repeal Obamacare" bullshite that they will have just failed at.
Does that just leave the obvious losers of "More of the same" or "We're not Democrats"? I'm really struggling to see the platform here.
I have a feeling the Dems are going to run on everything the GOPe has failed to do; it'll be a lot of "fix Obamacare" (they won't) and infrastructure (how fricking stupid is the GOP for not taking care of this by last April? - would have given some members cover for O'care or tax reform votes).

Lowest unemployment in 17 years and the highest stock market in history.
And by that time, the GDP may be growing over 4% per quarter.

Dems running on identity politics and an underlying anti white message will not be pretty up against anything the GOP runs on.

Believe it or not, the Democrats have an even worse message. They still can’t decide if they’re the party of identity politics or working class whites.
GOP should still control, but I don’t know if that translates into legislative victories. Still a chasm within the party, but the Democrats are an absolute mess.

Pump the brakes. This likely won't happen if tax bill doesn't pass. Also just straight up unlikely.
Also what bills are current members are going to be directly tied to helping the economy grow? I'd love to know. As far as I know they haven't really voted on anything substantial to tie their names to economic growth which goes back to OP's point of, what have you DONE?

Fair points. Huge debate going on within the party of do you run with Trump or ignore Trump. I? think it’s telling that gilespie ran away from Trump and actually did worse than Vogel in the LT Gov race who pretended to gravitate towards trump.
Bottom line. All the sets lost were in Nova which is becoming more and more Dem year after year. We need to accept that Virginia is no longer a swing state.

Trying to scare racists that the Mexicans and the Muslims are coming to kill them.

The GOPe won't have anything to run on, but the Democrats will be running on identity politics and calling everyone racist. It'll be a cripple fight.

pretty incredible how trump, in just 10 months, introduced significant legislation that pulled the stock market and unemployment rate out of the downward spiral they'd been on the previous 8 years
oh wait

Look back at previous GDP quarterly growth in the past two decades.
It's possible.

Spot on.
It’ll be interesting to see if Republicans can get tax reform done before campaigning really hits full swing.

Well, let's see.
One party wants to lower taxes on working class Americans, make healthcare affordable by getting rid of Obamacare, stimulate our economy through corporate tax cuts, renegotiate trade deals to improve manufacturing jobs, keep our military strong, and protect our civil liberties like the 2nd Amendment.
The other party screams, "You're a racist!" to everyone who disagrees with them.
That pretty much sums it up.

It depends on if you're looking at Real GDP, or percent change against prior period or percent change against previous year's quarter, or if you seasonally adjust, etc etc
There's 100 ways to look at it, but GDP is lucky to grow 3% YoY

Ideas like this one right aboveare what Republicans are up against in 2018. No sane person would vote for someone who espouses that crap.
Looking at the map right now, Repubs will make gains, primarily in the Senate. How many seats they pick up is anyone’s guess at this point, however.
