Talk to him and see what he says. Have those things become verbotten by order of a higher church authority? Talk to him about your concerns. I'm not trying to be a smartass here but sometimes you just have to go and ask "why?"

I think war is different.
I don't think abortion can be justified for economic reasons.
Why not adoption?

I couldn't tell you what the homily at last night's Mass was about. The priest I had is as dull as dishwater and delivers his homily in a monotone like he's reading it off the page verbatim.
I do know it wasn't about Ukraine, although they were mentioned in the prayers.

I grew up Catholic. 12 years of Catholic school.
I did as well and it ruined me from having a relationship with God until just a few years ago. I saw the greed and the power grabs, and routinely saw our priest at Pastime Lounge HAMMERED. It never made sense to me, until I found a church that worships God and not themselves. A church that goes out of its way to help the helpless, without judging and without doing it for recognition, and still does all of it without condoning anyone's sin. Once you find that, its life changing, and I questioned God's existence for a very long time.

Because a healthy full term of pregnancy involves missing a lot of days of work and towards the end you're basically not very useful.
I'm not saying it is right but legal abortion is just an economic reality. We would have to drastically redesign society and our economic models to facilitate such a change and not create more problems than we had before. Of course, what we're going to get is the moralists making it illegal without the corrections to maintain an healthy society put in place. Getting half a solution is sort of our specialty around here.
All we need to do is just return to autocratic agrarian feudalism and all these problems mentioned in this topic will go away. Of course, that probably means we enter another dark ages first and lose all these technologies that placate us. Also probably means a more Hobbesian life for the vast majority.
I'm just going to stay on the Hedonic treadmill and have my treats if I can help it though!

We can't talk about Abortion, LGBT grooming, CRT, human trafficking, destruction of the nuclear family, opioid epidemic, and political corruption.
Sounds like you need a new church. Our church routinely talks about each one of these. Probably had the most powerful homily on abortion back in 2020 - sorry for the Facebook link but it’s all I could find.

Your church might be part of the globalist problem.
Probably so, but through it will also come the solution.

I completely understand what you are saying. It seems that the Catholic Church has almost gone "mainstream".
Our Monsignor almost acts like he doesn't want to offend anyone in his homilies. He threads lightly when it comes to subjects of abortion, LGBT, divorce, etc., but when it comes to giving time or treasure he really has a loud voice.
I grew up going to this church and this is 3rd Monsignor since I can remember, I have to be honest, I have skipped Mass a lot since he arrived 5 years ago and I used to never miss Mass.
I also wonder how much the message coming from the Pope has to do with the message we are hearing.

My church mentions abortion all the time
My Independent Baptist church mentions abortion almost weekly. Of course, in my 59 years of attending church in 5 cities and three dominations (Methodist, Southern Baptist, and Independent Baptists), my current church is the only one to actually preach on divorce...while almost all Baptist churches over-preach the evils of alcohol. My Bible-thumping preacher is unafraid to teach the gospel.

How long has it been since you attended a live Mass? I encourage you to reach out to a local priest and discuss this issue. If you don't know where to begin, tell me what Diocese you live in and I will try to help. It is not just about you not going to church. It is about your soul eternally.

You need to find another church. There are plenty of Catholic Churches that do not have lukewarm pastors. You shouldn't expect fire and brimstone every week, but your pastor/deacon should be helping you develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

We put up the crosses and signs that say "end abortion". But it never gets explicitly called out from the pulpit the way it should. So many of our homilies the past 2 years have been watered down, feel good gobbledygook, that lack the necessary brimstone and fire that has been needed. Unless of course it is for something like Ukraine
If you are allowing a sin to block your way to Jesus, would you want the priest/deacon to call you out in public or handle it privately with you?

No. Just need to go when my pastor is celebrating Mass. He's all right.

Why do you even attend? That priest should have been hung from a lamppost 2 years ago.

IMHO that is not the best topic for a homily or sermon in church. Stick to the theological topics.

I grew up Catholic. 12 years of Catholic school. Was a practicing Catholic for the first 40 years of my life, and I'd really like to be a practicing Catholic today - but I can't do it. I have so little respect for the human beings running the Church that I end up sitting in the pew getting pissed about the things you posted (and more). I still consider myself a Catholic, but I'm not sure the church considers me one.
I am exactly with you 100%... it sucks because I believe in Catholicism to my core but th church and this pope... can't do it.
