History Will Show 2 Distinct Decision Points Where Trump’s Iran Strategy Failed Massively

During the Iran War of 2026, TWO prominent occasions stand out where the U.S. had significant military leverage, yet Trump opted to de-escalate or pause for negotiations.
Fruitful negotiations never panned out, and the regime was able to dig in and will ultimately come out the victor.
1. April 2 - after intense allied strikes, Trump threatened “overwhelming” additional attacks (including on power plants and broader targets to “end Iran’s civilization”) but pulled back the next week to accept a two-week ceasefire brokered via Pakistan, conditioned on Iran reopening the Strait of Hormuz. This ceasefire was extended and the regime regained its strength.
2. May 18–19. Trump publicly called off a major planned U.S. strike on Iran citing “serious negotiations” “underway.”
Iranians only know the diplomatic language of force. If you treat them like a western country, they will out maneuver you. The last 50 years tells us this.
I am personally surprised that Trump did not have the advisors in place to tell him to keep his foot on the gas and end the regime.

Someone got to him to leverage gas and bond issues domestically IMO. Iran leveraged the local damage it was inflicting and the strait, perfectly IMO

There’s only one point of failure:
Starting the war.
Starting the war.

I don’t understand the downvotes.
Unless you’re delusional or disingenuous, you cannot claim any benefit from this needless war.

So your solution would have been to allow Iran to purchase the supersonic anti-ship cruise missiles from China (violating the UN weapons embargo) and allowed them to keep pursuing the development of nukes?
Why don't we just give them anti-ship missiles and a couple of our ICBM's and call it good?
That would be your preferred choice, right? To do easy thing?
Strong men make the hard decisions, and you, sir, do not seem like a strong man.

Only needs to be one point of failure really to consider.
It’s impossible to achieve peace in the Middle East absent killing about 80% of the population.
The Arab/Israeli war will end when one buries a knife in the chest of that last of the other. It will be a knife because they’ll want to see the look in their eyes knowing they’re the last. That’s how deep the hatred runs.

"trump's iran strategy?" he was sold a bill of goods by Bibi that it would be over in 4 days. trumps biggest failure was the people around him didn't tell him that iran would shut down the straits. everyone around him tells him what he wants to hear. now, iran has trump by the balls. he will either leave southwest asia in defeat or he will drop some nuclear weapons and declare some kind of victory. razin caine needs to go.

Wrong. Not ending the war.
Level and leave. It’s the only correct strategy.

The majority of the country melted down over the thought of him "ending" Iran.
The disingenuous one is you.

God man we’ve been hearing the same bullshite about Iran for the last 40 years. They’re either the stupidest human beings ever or we’ve been lied to.

I don't know about now, but Caine was apparently a voice of reason ahead of time.

No, you don’t understand the meaning of war. This is far from a war not very far from over in the outcome is undecided.
