scum.
Are you saying Lehmberg, who shockingly still runs the state's Public Integrity Unit, and refused to resign from her position, is not "scum"?

Link to the law the Grand Jury says he violated? He very well might be prohibited by law from vetoing things as political retribution.
Really? So any time a grand jury subjectively decides a veto was 'political retribution,' they can just start handing out indictments? Great precedent to set. let's just start indicting every single governor in the country while we're at it. Oh, and the President, too. Why stop there? What's the statute of limitations on this abhorrent political act? Can we indict every living former President for their politically-minded vetoes?

Not defending anyone.
Am however, enjoy watching the Perry empire burn.
He is a moron. And much like every other moron the republicans run out there, I hope, nay, pray he runs for president again.

ANY time? No. But in this case in Texas? Maybe. What does the law say?

To my knowledge, that it's squarely within the Governor's power to veto.
I haven't seen any Democrats link me to the provision where a veto is illegal because it has a political basis. Other than to scream, 'abuse of power!,' that is.

Honestly the Perry issue in all of this seems more of a revenge ploy. What is more troubling to me is that this woman feels compelled to ride it out, and not give up her position. I've known people fired from jobs not pertaining to public office for a DWI. to me that is pretty troubling.

You would think this is the obvious conclusion everyone would come to, but then hack partisan politics trumps common sense more often than not, apparently.

Yawn. I don't live in TX so this doesn't affect me in the least.
And Rick Perry will likely never be President anyway, because the liberal press would have smeared him for a number of reasons.
But it's nice to know that you think different standards should be applied based on party affiliation.

Because this board will go into explosive meltdown, when the republicans fail once again to win the presidency at a time when the democratic part is at it's absolute weakest.
That will be a a glorious day indeed.

I guess if you get your pleasure from seeing a board if message posters you don't know acting angry, then it would be fun.
On the issue at hand, I don't even like Perry and this indictment is patently absurd.

Why is the Democrat Party weak?
Because it is in power, mostly.
When Democrats are in power, they get to implement their policies.
When they implement their policies, things go to shite because their policies don't work.

If anyone wants to know why the nation is fricked politically, the quoted material is why. "Us vs Them." The desire to see a political outcome only to offend the opposite side.
Congrats for being a huge part of the problem.

Accepting state funds to operate a Public Integrity Unit with the purpose of investigating all state office holders means you are subject to scrutiny and questioning and maybe even oversight from the state...for that program line. That the Travis County DA has continued to think it can accept state funds for a state-wide program but is only answerable to the commies in Travis County is laughable. The Gov has a responsibility to ensure state programs funded under his authority are operated and led in an appropriate manner. If Perry had done this to someone else holding a significant state govt position in Austin, we wouldn't be hearing about it.

Does Rick Perry have to actually turn himself in to booking and take a mugshot?
What a phony trumped up charge this is.
