Here's My Take Regarding the Issue of Transgenderism

I wanted to start a thread on this, because simply posting in a thread allows the usual suspects to take a couple of words or one sentence out of context, which results in no effective or useful conversation whatsoever.

So here goes, and I'll use a bullet-point format:

1) I would start by making the mutilation of children illegal. This is, BY FAR, my #1 issue regarding this matter. I'm not a big Bill Maher fan, but he made a somewhat humorous comment about this one time. He said that his #1 fantasy when he was a child was to be a pirate, and he concluded by thanking his parents that he didn't end up with a peg leg and an eyepatch.

Children should not be manipulated in this horrific way because they are too young to even understand this. Not only that, a child could say one thing at 8 years old and then end up regretting it the rest of their lives.

2) IMO, anybody who reaches the age of 21 and wants to go through the transgender process should be free to do it, AS LONG AS THEY PAY FOR IT THEMSELVES. Taxpayer funds should NEVER be allocated for this.

That's it. Please feel free to express your own opinion in this thread, but I have one request. For anybody who might only want to hijack this thread with some ridiculous comment, I ask you to refrain from doing that if only this one time.

You're actually comparing circumcision to the transgender process? Wow.

Even paying for it themselves they are likely getting it done at a facility and by doctors that are subsidized by taxpayers or had mental health or medical visits that led to such.

I really don’t understand why we encourage this mental condition at all. Everyone in healthcare also takes The Hippocratic Oath, and knows this is wrong.

This is Example A of why we can almost never have a legitimate discussion here. Unbelievable.

It seems you want to have the political limit conversation, and whiloe 1 is correct, and should be an easy law to pass, it's not the mutilation of kids that is the only problem. it's the marketing to kids, it's the pride parades, and all that comes with it.

I agree with this part of the political stance, however....

By even allowing this you open up the door to the "what is real" argument. Now, I'm pretty sure you're right leaning, but as soon as you say A male can be a female, where is the limit of THAT statement. Do they share bathrooms? Do you have to acknowledge pronouns? Can they play sports?

The reason this is always complicated is because it's FAR more than a medical procedure. And even if Republicans took the poltiical process stance, and said "Look, you can do whatever you want at the age of 21," once the democrats get ahold of power then the totalitarianism follows, "Men are women and can use women's bathrooms," or "Men are women and to say anything different is hate speech," and on and on and on.

I get that people are tired of this issue, but fundamentally it has to do with objective truth itself, and where the lines can be drawn on that. That's why it's such a battle. Even more than abortion. I can, sort of, understand the perspective of someone who says a fetus isn't a person. Even if I disagree, I see the rational points. There is no rationality behind transgenderism at this scale. (Meaning, yes there is a small, small tiny group of people where this actually is a serious mental condition).

But at the end of the day, we would not allow someone to get get there arm cut off for no reason, the same should be said for transgenderism.

Why 21? Why not 18?

Hey man, you are the one claiming you are worried about child genitalia mutilation. Where did that come from? Why was that on your radar?

Just to clarify, do you mean Transsexual or transgender? It reads gender in subject line, but the post body is more about transsexual due to surgical procedures.

Both are mentally batshit, but transgenders at least have an opportunity to step off the ledge

Since we've set the cutoff on kids being on a parent's health insurance to age 25, I'd probably go with that.

Or we can go back to properly diagnosing it as a mental disorder and locking them away in asylums should treatment prove ineffective.

Those in MAGA pretending transgenderism is acceptable because Bruce Jenner supports Trump can go too.

I don't encourage it. I actually think it's insane. My #1 priority here is that I want children to be protected. If someone is 21 or older and they want to pay for it, I think that's their business even if I think they're insane to do it.

Dude, not only am I 1/8th Jewish. To quote Dustin Hoffman, I'm also cut (TMI).

This thread has nothing to do with circumcision

Is it up to 25 and then cut off at 26? shite, I don't know. Whatever the day they are cut off would be the day they could cut off.
