If it’s on a base, they do. I had to show ID and be searched at NASJRB New Orleans.

Yeah, you are NOT just walking onto any military base without showing ID.

Used to be that a base runner was a quick call to leadership (the commander, vice and chief). Now it's basically a report to HHQ (major command to pentagon).

All this started around 2017/18 so the severity isn't new but finally being looked at. I was at Barksdale when one of those events occurred as well as being on shift. Essentially someone blew past the gate and had the guard been standing there he would've been killed. When they arrested the guy he was drugged and had several altered weapons and ammo in his vehicle. Then the FBI took over and we never heard anything else. Only thing was the reporting of gate runners being elevated.

The other incident was at Travis.
