I would give up every gun I own this very minute if I felt it would lead to an end of these horrific shootings. But I cannot because it would have absolutely no impact whatsoever. None.
Guns have never been harder to get than now. I also think it’s silly to blame “guns” for teen shootings when we have an entire genre of “first person shooter” games.

Kids are getting the idea that shooting up a venue is a good idea. But that idea has come a long after guns were invented.

The NRA helped create the NICS.

The NICS was created by the FBI after the Brady Act mandated it. The NRA then spent MILLIONS in trying to have the Brady Act overturned, bankrolling lawsuits in a dozen states and eventually leading to the Supreme Court decision in Printz v. U.S.

Why do kids want to kill a bunch of their classmates these days?

That seems to be the most important question. Even if we make it impossible for them to acquire a gun, are we supposed to believe that will remove their motivation to kill a bunch of their classmates?

I’m not saying that’s an argument against gun control. I’m saying it’s a deeply troubling problem, and we should treat it that way, separate from the gun debate.

And he posted it on an obscure message board. So who gives a frick.

You know Dems will bring up gun control before the day is out. If you disagree, you're lying your arse off.

This annoy anyone else? Offer thoughts and prayers privately. Politicians tweeting this shite just makes you look desperate to be congratulated for your feelings with the public.

Senator Ted Cruz is A-rated by the @NRA and voted against universal background checks after the shooting at Sandy Hook School. His prayers do not seem to be working.

It is silly to blame guns

But when you're going to blame video games you're just as stupid

No. He's right. You absolutely made it political with your first post. Do I think you should hang for it? No. But you should at least own up to it.

Again, obscure message board that 12 people will read. Let's see who does it first on an actual media stage.

NRA was for instant check which was and is used today. As far as the Brady Campaign to prevent Violence, they often mention the thousands "denied" yet leave out how few prosecutions took place, a matter of dozens.

Universal background checks will not fix anything especially when law enforcement drop the ball every step of the way as witnessed at Parkland.

That was carrot for the NRA.

You might want to look into the details of those suits.

So guns aren't the problem, but video games are, in your mind?

Just want to understand your stance.

I disagree. I can buy into the video game argument. It's the same argument I've heard for years with poor communities. When you see it all the time it becomes the norm.

So then why aren't South Koreans, Japanese, or Vietnamese committing mass shootings at schools?

Ye he did, because universal background checks would have been meaningless since Lanza , um....ahhhhh....STOLE the firearms used in that massacre.

Mom passed a background check though

its a 400 million guns available problem

The percentage of American families who own guns is on the decline and has been for quite awhile. The guns being used are no more lethal than they were 50-100-more years ago.

Yet, they are responsible for the uptick in school shooting.

Doesn’t compute.

Do you even know what the gun laws are in those countries? That's a terrible argument IMO
