Note: this is not an "and" list, but an "or" list. Only one of these (or a less dramatic combination) taxes would be necessary, but still, this is why it is a political impossibility.

quote:

A 32 percent payroll tax

A 25 percent income surtax

A 42 percent value-added tax (VAT)

A mandatory public premium averaging $7,500 per capita – the equivalent of $12,000 per individual not otherwise on public insurance

More than doubling all individual and corporate income tax rates

An 80 percent reduction in non-health federal spending

A 108 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increase in the national debt

Impossibly high taxes on high earners, corporations, and the financial sector

A combination of approaches

LINK

Yes, it is absolutely true that these taxes would be paid at same time people would no longer have to pay monthly premiums, deductibles, and copays, but the issue is that shifting health care spending from being dependent on usage to being dependent on income/taxes, is that you will create some net losers: those who would end up paying more in taxes than they pay in annual healthcare expenditures.

Liberals think money just magics into existence by the sheer force of their ignorant will.

Not exactly an earth shattering revelation. Simple math tells you that you'll have to have this for it to be funded.

Is any of that ridiculously inflated propaganda based on numbers actually seen by any other nation which has a national health? Of course not.

The rest of the nations offering “free healthcare” don’t pay for the worlds military policing and have open borders with 20+ million illegals. You can’t have free everything, a military like ours and open borders.

european nations spend about 60% of what we do on health care, so your comparison is apples to oranges.

It isn't that hard to put a general price tag on medicare for all. You use medicare payment rates, estimate how much and what kind of care would be consumed each year by Americans, and calculate the price tag. After you get the price tag, you can then determine the taxes required.

A socialist/liberals dream.
Take from the haves and the working class and redistribute it to the “don’t wants (to work)” worthless bums and dregs of society.

Yea, these would be the largest peace time increases in taxes in american history.

The deadweight loss they could induce would be immense.

If all their profits are being stolen by the government it begs the question if they really own their business at all.

The idea that keep pushing that Medicare for all will save you money is the biggest lie of all time. How could anyone possibly believe that

And this frickery is exactly why when a moderate friend/family member tells me he/she cannot vote for Trump, I ask if this kind of bullshite is more palatable than Trump's tweets.

People need to pay attention. If Dems get control again, this type of shite will be the tip of the ice berg.

Just like Obamacare was supposed to save people money, right?

Nothing the gov't does is cheap or efficient.

Let's not forget the rationing of healthcare that will happen too. Doctors will leave their practices, innovation in health care comes to a screeching halt. Lots of people point to Canada as having a great system, yet their citizens continually pour across the border to get their needed procedures done here because they can't wait out the long waiting periods to have it done there.

Healthier, but far fewer employees, as if higher taxes are forced upon corporations, the way to make up for those higher expenses is reducing staff.

That's the explicit point of universal healthcare programs. We have rationing in our insurance system too, when the insurance company denies a claim.

What we should do is just choose a system and stick with it. The US has elements of all four healthcare models, and that by itself increases administrative costs to a great degree.
