There definitely was some nasty respiratory virus going around in Dec-Jan that me and a lot of other people had, but I don’t think it was covid as much as I would like that to be the case. The timings and hospitalizations and current positives don’t match up to what should be if that was the case.

of infections in December and January from massive daily travel to and from China. Theory goes that many had Woohan virus and shook it off as a flu or cold, so not as many infections now that we are testing and promoting it. He stresses he could be wrong and it is just a theory.

Seems like a logical possibility. I think we can only know by testing people who got sick in December, January and February for the anti-bodies. I hope we do. It would help us understand this virus.

There is more interstate travel than any international. If they had it 2 months ago, so did we.

My theory is the hospitals all seem to be overwhelmed because everyone that is sick now thinks they have Covid19, whereas 2 months ago nobody knew what it was.

Possibly, but the majority of people might not even get symptoms or so mild they don't know.

We think we had it in January.

Hence everyone thinking their cold was "it"!

Rush's hypothesis is absurd unless everyone in cali got the mild version.

There were daily flights from Wuhan to JFK so that theory isn’t the greatest.

considering 75% of the people who get it will not show any symptoms, that seems believable.

I don't think your % is accurate as to asymptomatic.

Every dip shite in America thinks their cold was corona and now they're "immune".

the evidence suggests that at least some of those colds / seasonal allergies were Corona.....

Do we know for certain that having it means a person is immune? Ive seen reports both ways but nothing seems to be set in stone.

I don't think anything is set in stone...so, no, I definitely don't know for certain, but have seen that assumption.

Lurker living in Northern California, theres no secret. The entire state started enacting lockdown procedures earlier than almost anyone. So despite having some of the first covid patiens in America, the state is relatively successful.

As soon as people started testing positive,

- Northern Californa big companies and businesses started voluntarily ordering their people to work from home en masses starting March 1st

- Officials ordered schools closed soon after

- Mayors around the entire San Francisco Bay Area went into shelter in place earlier than anyone.

- Soon after, the California governor ordered the entire state to shelter in place. Think it was among the first in the nation.

I had my doubts and trepidation when they first started shutting down, went on supply runs for food and home defense, but have to say the results have been amazing.

The emergency rooms actually have good capacity, the hospitals are using the time to get their gear and procedures in place, and the doctors are thanking the citizens for complying.

Sure theres some bad apples going en mass to parks here and there, but the vast majority of people are taking this seriously. Lots of volunteers mobilizing to help the elderly and disabled with shopping, and we're finding shelter for the homeless as well, working with the hotel industry.

Hopefully we can get this under control, and help other states soon.

Believe it or not a good diet and fitness can help kick an illness...

Californians eat better, and get better workouts than a typical southerner...

They recreationally play tennis!

Eta: I'm not suggesting it stops you from getting the illness (diet can in some cases)...but that good health mitigates symptoms of viral infections...
Like hypoxia

we had some rather unseasonably warm weather in January and February this year with temps closing in on the 90s. If this virus is somehow lessened/negated/hinderd by warmer temps, that may have had something to do with it.
