On the other side of that, Thomas Jefferson famously refused to proclaim national days of prayer and fasting, believing the federal government had no authority to intermeddle in religious institutions. He would likely view a federal "Office of Religious Affairs" as a dangerous overreach of executive power.
Jefferson also took the Bible and literally cut out all the stuff about miracles and supernatural events.

Interesting to wonder what the founding fathers would think of this.

However, at the time of the Constitutional Convention the country was 99% Christian.
It's more like 90%, but their ancestors came from places where religion was forced and that's why there is no reference to specific religions and why we have freedom of religion.
In other words, while you can say they were mostly "Christian" their actual beliefs varied quite a bit and they came from a time when certain religions and beliefs were forced.
Also church membership rates were extremely low.
They were more scared of each other. It wasn't like there was some religious harmony going on.

As long as it’s multi-denominational, I don’t have a problem with it. You’re asking people to do a job that legitimately risks their life.
I don’t mind if they have an office helping out with the religious aspects of that.
I would like to see an ombudsman, though.

Jefferson ALSO literally went to war against Muslims.
There is nothing new under the sun, and it is tremendously arrogant of modern day “christian” nationalists to think they’re in anyway special.

Maybe it was all just incompetence. Maybe not.
It still violated the Geneva convention either way.
The article that came out today about that war crime should be a must read for every American

So we knew the children were shields and fired multiple missiles anyway?
And that’s a defense of this act, in your mind?
Yikes

as Psalm 33:12 extolls us, blessed is the nation in which God is the Lord
I can find no Bible that reads that way. In most bibles in English it is “blessed is the nation for whom the LORD (Yahweh) is its god (elohaw)”. Pete and probably most others don’t realize is that this psalm was written at a time when Israel acknowledged all the gods of the Canaanite pantheon and the Egyptians and Babylonian gods as real and powerful, but the particular patron deity of Jerusalem was Yahweh, which is the one they primarily worshipped. Psalm 33 presupposes that there are many gods, but that the people of Israel have been assigned to Yahweh - their god, not the only god and not the one and only God capital G.
ETA: Even for the Bible thumpers, they have to acknowledge psalm 33:12 isn’t always true. They got their asses kicked hard by Assyria. That wasn’t a blessing, but a curse. They got their asses kicked by Babylon. Again not blessed. That Israel be blessed because they worship Yahweh was wishful thinking on the part of the psalmist but it certainly wasn’t based on what was actually happening and did happen historically.

They would hate it. It goes directly against separation of Church and State.
No it doesn't. Separation of church and state means no Gov't forced religion or state sponsored religion. The US Government owns hundreds of places of worship and employs 100s if not 1000's of priests, ministers, rabbi's, etc.
If the founding fathers were against it they would have eliminated the role of Military Chaplain when the country was founded.

He was a deist, not a Christian, and he thought there were some good moral teachings of Jesus but didn’t believe all the supernatural nonsense. He tried to make a chronological book of the real historical Jesus. Problem was that he had it arse backwards, because there was no historical Jesus in the sense that most of the Christians during the time of Paul, Peter, and James were already worshipping a celestial Jesus who was killed in heaven and resurrected in heaven before the gospel stories of a Jesus on earth were invented. I don’t fault Jefferson for that. Just a few years ago I thought for sure there must’ve been a guy - some crazy apocalyptic rabbi that the Jesus character was based on until I really started to do my research.

In your analysis did you count slaves as 3/5 in your 90 % calculation?

No because slaves were not founding fathers.
