If the interstate was closed... How did they get the vehicles there in the first place for that night? Police aren't going to place vehicles with zero light and reflective ability in the middle of an intersection closed or not.
reality is they likely removed the barrier and failed to put it back up or they reopened and the idiots thought they'd force it back to closing.

He drove up the off ramp and was driving the wrong way into what would have been oncoming traffic (road was closed). He had to have meant to hit the protestors, hard to feel sorry for the guy he deserves the charges.

That is my point. The protests and road closer was approaching 10 days. So either the roads were still closed because in interviews with the participants they mention moving street to street that night with their protests and moving the vehicles with them or they reopened them briefly that night and the protesters were having none of it. Even if closed Police aren't going to let those vehicles just sit there for 10 days.
So my guess is they removed the barricade, placed the vehicles, and didn't put the barricade back or there wasn't a designated detour. The story that he was going the wrong way is false.

This is true. But wouldn’t the same camera showing him coming down the ramp also show him going up the off ramp prior to turning around?
Why hasn't the footage showing the car going “up” the on-ramp been released? It seems to me that it would solve a lot of unanswered questions.
