If you guys are so against irrational and non-scientific groups, why aren't you going after things like cosplay contests, fantasy communities, etc.

Just like those things are based on subjects that don't exist, they still provide a source of community for people.

Why is that a bad thing?

Costplaying groups, role playing communities, etc, are differentiated from religious groups by one key factor - they know it's not real. They partake because it provides a sense of escapism from reality. None of them operate under the continuous belief that these interests are incontrovertible truths of our existence.

Nor are they attempting to convince others that their fantasies are real.

t should also be pointed out that many of the most significant scientific discoveries and theories developed as recently as the 20th Century were done by devout Christians who remained devout Christians after their discoveries and often credited their reconciliation of science and religion with those discoveries.

One of the most brilliant minds in organic chemistry is Dr James Tour. He has thousands of credits to scientific papers, dozens of patents in nanotechnology and he a messianic Jew.

Dr Tour has been getting a lot of grief from some dude on YouTube who calls himself Professor Dave but he’s not really a professor.
Seems Dr Tour has repeatedly torpedoed a lot of these origins of life (OOL) claims about how life formed on a prebiotic earth and this Professor Dave dude is unglued about Dr Tour’s beat downs of OOL research.

Currently Dr Tour is offering an all expense paid trip for Professor Dave so they can have a video taped discussion/debate at Rice university concerning OOL with a live audience….so far Professor Dave remains silent on the invitation.

The reason devout Christians represent such a small minority of people claiming Christianity is that it’s much harder to believe in it after a deep dive into the theology.

Much easier, actually. Anyone who claims to understand Christianity at this level, but still rejects it, is simply choosing to follow their stubbornness to ruin.

Major projection going on here.

No projection at all, hotshot.

Those atheist cocksuckers always try to shove their "religion" down other's throats.

Who files all the lawsuits?

So now that this is being widely reported, I see the atheists have abandoned the thread.

I’m no Nostradamus, but it is Kenya, I’d say someone stuck an AK in his face and he saw the light pretty quick.

Unless it is an Islamic prayer. That’s okay.

Generally speaking, it’s a promotion of empiricism, logic and rationality.

That's funny considering atheists frequently use fraudulent evidence for evolution to denounce the existence of God.

Atheism is simply the inability of a person to accept or comprehend the existence of something greater than themselves. There is actually a lot of evidence for the existence of a spiritual realm, so it's rather odd that atheists claim to rely on "empiricism, logic and rationality."

There are several documented, scientifically studied cases of OOBE, past lives, global consciousness, and other spiritual phenomena. If we are simply biological processes as atheists believe, this would not be possible.

Saying that this is just a coincidence or isn't legitimate evidence isn't using logic or empiricism. It's just ignoring evidence that doesn't fit with preconceived biases.

There was this atheist that was rowing a boat on Loch Ness in Scotland one day. All of a sudden the Loch Ness monster began attacking and grabbed him from his boat. He panicked and shouted "God help me!", and suddenly, the monster and everything around him just froze. A voice from the heavens shouted "You say you don't believe in me, but now you're asking for my help?" The atheist looked up and said, "Well, ten seconds ago I didn't believe in the Loch Ness Monster either."

For real. This is just another example of someone who can't see past their own hubris.

You don't encounter too many African fellas named "Seth".

In the same vein as encountering a dog named "Kevin".

Kind of weird that atheist society would word it that way when describing why he's leaving. Just say he's leaving for reasons of personal belief that conflict with his role in the society.

You're going to need to be a whole lot more specific here.

That is their actual statement. Here it is on their website. Not sure why so many folks in this thread are struggling with their factual press release.

What gets me is when people say 'the science is settled'. They've made up their minds that x fits their world view and that's that. As if the scientific method is no longer needed.

It’s just another religion. And atheists are some of the biggest zealots there are.
