quote:He was harassed and chased a pretty long distance - including being nudged/hit with the vehicle itself. He was very out of breath and had tried to go around the truck, and he was trapped. I'm not saying it was exactly the right tactic, but it's hard to judge after the fact. Why would he have any expectation that he would live if he just surrendered to a random person with a shotgun? This person (the shooter and his dipshit buddies) had already proven they were willing to commit felonies in broad daylight.
I'll say it again. He didn't die for trespassing. He died because he tried to wrestle and grab a gun away from its owner.

There are no heroes in this case. The defendants nor Arbery were upstanding citizens.
We all know plenty of people who "look after the neighborhood", yet would never let it escalate to a killing.
Almost wish there was some sort of lesser charge of "murder of useless people" in which they're found guilty, yet don't serve an enormous amount of time behind bars.

I disagree with the concept of a 'citizens arrest ', but if 3 clowns are gonna pull that on a guy, double down and call the cops. Call their bluff. It sucks, but trying to out muscle and out quick 3 men , one with a gun, you're gonna lose.
Easy to say from here, but I sure would like to know what his interest was in visiting that construction site multiple times.

That may have a pronounced impact on the number of "useless people" roaming around within a few years.

Well he died for trying to take a shotgun from someone so..
They didnt shoot him for looking at lumber
you leaving out the part where they yelled they were gonna blow his brains out before he finally stopped. also that they didn't mention to the first responding officer or the detective investigating the case that they were performing a citizens arrest. or that they started following him when they saw him running down the street (they admitted they didn't see him leaving the house that day)
anyone defending these guys clearly doesn't understand the law or how citizens arrest works. you have to witness a felony occurring. everything they have said shows they didn't understand that.

"He said stop you know I will blow your F***** head off or something. I was trying to convey that I was not playing," Investigator Parker Marcy said while reading a portion of the transcript.
Marcy testified that Greg McMichael thought Arbery could be responsible for recent crimes although he had no concrete proof.
Marcy read a statement where McMichael suspects Arbery could be the person who stole his son’s firearm. He claims to have made the assumption after seeing Arbery on camera around a nearby house.

All you say may be true.
If someone who had threatened to blow my brains out with a gun told me to stop, I’d put my hands up stop to try to live. That or run until i collapsed. Whether they were right or wrong. I think that is the smart thing to do in that situation.
This kid fricked up. He crossed over to the “gun side of the street” and tried to fight the guy holding the gun.
He pissed his life away, probably because he thought there was no way that fat guy would shoot him, and he wanted to beat his arse.
He chose poorly, ans he wouldn’t have died if he had not.

How do you know? I’ve visited the same construction site multiple times. In fact, I’m doing it now. There’s a house being built in my neighborhood, and I walk through regularly.

Why does being a predominantly white neighborhood matter? You either break the law or you don’t. The neighborhood is irrelevant and just another way for media to attempt to divide the public.

Call the fricking police then
