It used to be honest. George Washington was offered to stay in power. He said 'no.' It went downhill after that.

I've only really been paying attention the last few years. I've read and watched different information which says it's always been corrupt. Think of J Edgar Hoover and the Vietnam War. But seems Since Trump entered the picture the establishment have really cranked up the intensity.
Also, big business, big pharma, the MIC, the WEF, have all gained an incredible amount of influence within the federal government by bribes, lobbying, and using the intelligence agencies to achieve their goals. None of their goals have the best interest of us tax payers in mind.
On top of this, Independent Media has allowed citizens to take in information which wasn't previously available in MSM, which has exposed much of the corruption.

“Seems?”

Even with the Watergate scandal Nixon’s pursuers would’ve fainted at the mere mention of the FBI conducting an armed raid of Dick’s personal residence. Even they were solidly on the same page as to the red lines not to be crossed.

Some extremely terrible genies have been let out of their bottles and will never go back in. Previously unthinkable precedents have been set, and it’s a very bad situation.

No.

There's always been unethical and corrupt politicians in the United States but it's gotten pretty bad over the past 60 years and particularly the past 30 years.

Every American who is being honest understands if not for Trump we certainly wouldn't know how fricked up the federal government and Bureaucratic State truly are.

I guess my question - Has it actually always been this bad with corruption behind the curtain, but with social media, PODCASTING, Rumble, YoutTube Shows, Donald J Trump, etc - we are now just seeing how bad the correction has always been that we didn't know about before because they always hid it so well from the public?
ANSWER:
It's always been this bad, now social media has become the ethical "microscope" for not only politics, but the business world, also.
The fact that ideologies in the nation/world are now so antithetical, has created tremendous animosity and discord.
I honestly don't see an end to it, short of revamping the foundations that the country was established on....JMO

I think it’s probably been this way for a long time.

There’s always been a ruling class. There’s always been corruption. Even the main media has always probably been controlled to an extent.

I think the messaging was easier to control in earlier days and I think the general values of the ruling class used to (mostly) align with the values of regular working people as far as love of country, traditional family structures, (genuine) belief in God, etc.

I think the messaging is harder for them to control nowdays (they are trying though and getting more brazen in doing so) and I think the values of the ruling class have diverged away greatly from the values of most everyone else.

Finally, for better or worse, I think there used to be a general level of trust given to the ruling class and our media and institutions and that trust has eroded away next to nothing nowdays.

And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. Those who lead should always work to earn our trust and respect and nothing that has been done in these recent years indicate they’ve ever tried to do so.

In fact, I would say many if not most of them can barely conceal their contempt for the regular people who still hold the old traditional values.

And I think the contempt in return for the ruling class is at a level I’ve never seen before. Again, I think that growing contempt for them has been earned.

Think of 1980 as the dividing line and the removal of the "Fairness Doctrine" in the FCC. Before that you had to have equal time on the radio and TV but most importantly if you published fake news you lost your butt in court and got bankrupted, potentially,

For the most part it’s always been that way once politicians started losing morals and getting bought and paid for. It’s gotten worse over the past 25-30 years.

There’s a reason every shitbag politician that opposes Trump goes out of their way to do so. Especially the libtards. Trump started exposing cockroaches once he got into office and they don’t like that.

They’re using him (to drag through the mud) to prevent us from finding out more so they can continue to phuck us over.

The craziest thing about all of that is there are STILL idiots that will deny everything but also continue to vote democrat.

We’ve had presidents start wars on false pretenses. No one was liable.
We now have a former president that didn’t start a war and he’s been arrested with 91 charges.

I don't know of a War that wasn't started under false pretenses. Or it was justified on false pretenses.

Do you believe the American people gave a flip about the Archduke of Austria? Britain was carrying weapons on a passenger ship, violation of International Law.

WW II, Roosevelt knew Japan was attacking. But we had to fight Germany.
How in hell was Korea, Vietnam, and Iraq a threat to the USA?

Corruption is getting worse. Democrats control everything thing in this country except the GOP and even that is being infiltrated.
